The state also ignores a court order against the state’s denial of Medicaid payments meant to cover trans patients. Wisconsin’s governor vows to veto a bill banning trans women in female sports. Longer wait than there is for buying a gun—a new law in Nebraska requires a seven-day waiting period between the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and the start of medical treatment. The new transgender member of Nashville Metro Council talks about the challenges she and other transgender elected officials face. The CDC proposes a “morning-after” pill for gay men and trans women to prevent the spread of STDs. Laura Jane Grace releases a new single titled Dysphoria Hoodie. Another judge blocks Chino Valley Unified School District from outing trans kids to their parents. The trans woman winner of a Tennessee election is forced to use the men’s room at the capital. Wisconsin ponders an affirming care ban. The Biden Administration proposes a new rule that LGBTQ and intersex foster children are to be placed only in supportive homes. The woman who made a bomb threat against Boston Children’s Hospital pleads guilty. A judge in Texas rules that the state’s ban on drag shows infringes on free speech. Florida and Kentucky are shedding teachers because of their bans on teaching “woke” subjects. Fearing state laws Southeast Missouri University closes its LGBTQ+ resource center but reopens after students protest. Pose star Angelica Ross will leave show biz to run for office in Georgia. Republicans in the House add clauses to the Military Appropriations Bill that would stop the military from paying for gender-affirming care for members of the military. The House of Representatives could be working on a budget deal but instead Republicans introduce a bill to deny federal funds for transgender health care. A new film from Salma Hayek features a trans woman coming home for Christmas. Taika Waititi’s new film tells the story of a transgender soccer player who is third gender. What’s in the news? Dylan Mulvaney wins a Streamy Award. The case brought by a group of sorority girls against their sorority for letting a trans girl join is dismissed. A Texas judge blocks the ban on drag shows in that state. Another judge in Texas puts an injunction on the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors but the state supreme court overturns it. The state of California sues a school district for requiring that parents be informed if their child changes gender in school. Members of Congress attempt to introduce a bill mandating the teaching of progressive sex education including LGBTQ lessons. Indeed not only finds jobs for people but gives cash to cover relocation expenses for trans employees. The Canadian government issues a travel warning for its LGBTQ citizens visiting the U.S., especially those visiting certain U.S. states. Meanwhile Saskatchewan adopts the same kind of educational policies as conservative U.S. states. In India government funding for shelters for trans women stops. Sophie Lynne has attended Pennsylvania State University twice. She was present in Happy Valley during the Reagan years but she wasn’t happy. She was holding on to her deep, dark secret. With good reason. Come out as trans back then and there were consequences.
