Philadelphia, Pa. declares itself to be a sanctuary city for trans people seeking medical care. 11-year-old transgender girl Dempsey Jara becomes the youngest grand marshal at a Pride event. This past week Fantasia Fair was back on Cape Cod for its 40th year. Part of the events that take place in Provincetown during the Fair include a show put on by the attendees who are musically inclined, speechs, and awards presentations to people who have worked tirelessly for trans rights. An Oklahoma judge lets the state enforce its ban on gender-affirming care for trans children. Such cases may be headed to the Supreme Court. A decision by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals says Florida’s ban on drag shows is discriminatory. A worker in a deli in New York attacks a woman with mace while claiming she was transgender. A drag queen school is coming to San Francisco. Two transgender women will compete for the title of Miss Universe next month. A non-binary runner receives an exemption from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, allowing them to compete while taking testosterone. The state also ignores a court order against the state’s denial of Medicaid payments meant to cover trans patients. Wisconsin’s governor vows to veto a bill banning trans women in female sports. Longer wait than there is for buying a gun—a new law in Nebraska requires a seven-day waiting period between the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and the start of medical treatment. The new transgender member of Nashville Metro Council talks about the challenges she and other transgender elected officials face. The CDC proposes a “morning-after” pill for gay men and trans women to prevent the spread of STDs. Laura Jane Grace releases a new single titled Dysphoria Hoodie. Wisconsin ponders an affirming care ban. The Biden Administration proposes a new rule that LGBTQ and intersex foster children are to be placed only in supportive homes. The woman who made a bomb threat against Boston Children’s Hospital pleads guilty. A judge in Texas rules that the state’s ban on drag shows infringes on free speech. Florida and Kentucky are shedding teachers because of their bans on teaching “woke” subjects. The 2030 census may ask about your gender identity. Some clinics won’t provide gender-affirming care to patients who are entitled to it. Republicans in the House add clauses to the Military Appropriations Bill that would stop the military from paying for gender-affirming care for members of the military. Three quarters of those surveyed feel that politicians don’t know enough about trans issues to make policy. Kim Petras releases her first album.
