After coming out as gay at the age of 16 he made his way to New York City where Broadway beckoned. Along the way he became famous. Along with his talent Porter is famous for his fashion choices. A study in the Journal of the AMA shows trans and nonbinary teens are far more likely to be victims than cisgender teens. Billy Porter’s directorial debut premiers in July. Legalized Murder
Sophie Lynne examines the prevalence of the “trans panic defense” in the murder trials of men who have killed trans women. Supposedly these men, according to their attorneys, were so shocked to learn that the woman they hooked up with was trans their only recourse was to murder their would-be sex partner. The number of murderers who get away with using the TPD make it look like these senseless killings are legal in many states.

It is obvious that the continual attacks on transgender persons in the political arena by the Religious Right are aimed at one of our rights after another. Their attacks have no basis if facts but are all “fake news” meant to rile people up over the existence of transgender people. Today Michelle expresses how she feels up the continual introduction of bills designed to make life harder for trans people than it already is.
Trans Spirituality – Memorial Day Edition
Transgender people have become disabled veterans in a percentage much higher than the general population. As we enter the Memorial Day weekend, we hold all these national heroes in our hearts, and uplift their spirits to wherever they have gone. There are currently 134,000 trans veterans and 15,000 trans Active-Duty service members. While we sacrifice for our country some people refuse to give us respect.

The last trailer runs, the lights dim and in front of the house the silver screen glows with the opening of another film featuring transgender characters or themes. It’s time for Transgender in Film and Video. Today there’s a trans character cast in the next season of Doctor Who. A trans character in A Million Little Things, an animated show with Zach Barack, and three films from India.

An Australian supermarket will give employees recovering from gender confirmation surgery an additional ten days paid leave. Trans politicians are working to get elected. Federal judges block anti trans laws. State legislatures keep pumping them out. Trans actors are appearing in film and TV projects. A trans actress is one of 12 finalists for Miss France 2023. An organization called Gender Stream has helped at least 53 transgender people leave Ukraine. Isolation during the pandemic has given people time to plan their transitions. A nonbinary student accepted the title of prom king while wearing a squinted dress. For her signing of an anti trans bill Jon Oliver called the governor of Alabama a “garbage lady”.
