TransWeek and The Pioneer Award
This past week Fantasia Fair was back on Cape Cod for its 40th year. Part of the events that take place in Provincetown during the Fair include a show put on by the attendees who are musically inclined, speechs, and awards presentations to people who have worked tirelessly for trans rights. A contestant on Big Brother UK comes out as a transgender woman. A nine-year-old sues the state of North Carolina for access to gender-affirming care. An Oklahoma judge lets the state enforce its ban on gender-affirming care for trans children. Such cases may be headed to the Supreme Court. A decision by the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals says Florida’s ban on drag shows is discriminatory. A worker in a deli in New York attacks a woman with mace while claiming she was transgender. A drag queen school is coming to San Francisco. Two transgender women will compete for the title of Miss Universe next month. A non-binary runner receives an exemption from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, allowing them to compete while taking testosterone. Transgender women finish first and second in the Chicago CycloCross Cup races. A family court in Japan rules that requiring transgender people to have surgery before they can change their legal sex designation is unconstitutional. Felicity Chandelle (1905–2008), Pilot and Crossdresser
Our title is Felicity Chandelle (1905–2008), Pilot and Crossdresser. At age ten, in 1915, young John Miller was spending his free time at a local flight school. His ambition was to become a pilot. Miller did that. First delivering the mail to Camden, New Jersey, in a gyrocopter that took off from the roof of the Philadelphia post office, and becoming an airline pilot. Then in `969 the urge for feminine glamor struck and Felicity was born. Attending crossdresser meeting and events all over the east coast she was there at historic places. This is her story, sent to TGF by Jan Brown and Dallas Denny.

How do you create a superb dish at Dina’s Diner? Dina Amberle knows all the techniques to tickle your mental taste buds. Today she has whipped up an entree that begins with being honest to yourself. Then she lets it set as it goes through the ageing process and stirs in some swimmers to add a spicy resonance. While the batter settles and air bubbles pop Dina makes up a side dish of partners who dress for comfort while their other half dolls up. Closing out the meal is an appreciation of pantyhose and tights.

Taika Waititi has a new film titled Next Goal Wins. It tells the story of the American Samoa soccer team that just can’t win with a comedic stance. A team member is a trans woman. Streaming video has gone OTT, Over the Top, in India and one show that opened things up for trans actors was Sacred Games. The British series Sex Education adds a transgender character. The state also ignores a court order against the state’s denial of Medicaid payments meant to cover trans patients. Wisconsin’s governor vows to veto a bill banning trans women in female sports. Longer wait than there is for buying a gun—a new law in Nebraska requires a seven-day waiting period between the diagnosis of gender dysphoria and the start of medical treatment. The new transgender member of Nashville Metro Council talks about the challenges she and other transgender elected officials face. The CDC proposes a “morning-after” pill for gay men and trans women to prevent the spread of STDs. Laura Jane Grace releases a new single titled Dysphoria Hoodie. In spite of their differences they are very much like the others around them. They begin to realize that in spite of their differences they are very much like the others around them. It should come as no surprise that the wives and partners of crossdressers, when they compare notes, should find themselves sharing many of the same experiences also.
