The DOJ sues Florida for violating the Affordable Care Act. Transgender women finish first and second in the Illinois State Cyclocross Championships. Montana passes a law declaring that sex is binary. Dr. Jeanne Hoff, the first openly trans psychiatrist to treat transgender patients, passes away. Trace Lysette receives a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for her performance in Monica. Hunter Schafer to appear in a new horror video game called OD. An opera about Lilly Elbe is on the way. Alex Newell is named Breakthrough of the Year by TIME magazine. A court rules the British Parliament acted legally in blocking the Scottish government’s Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Trans Spirituality – Winter Holiday Special
Well, it’s that time of year again. The winter holiday season. Hanukkah started on December 7 this year. The new moon is December 12, and of course the solstice is December 21. Christmas, for those who observe it is December 25 and Kwanza begins December 26. We won’t have a solar/lunar darkness as we did a couple years ago, but it is still a very dark time of year.

Some of them might be but many are going to auditions, or doing the audition from home using a ring light and their iPhone. What’s new today? The lawsuit Zooey Zephyr filed over the Montana House of Representatives silencing her is dismissed. Twenty-one state attorneys general support trans students use of the restroom that corresponds to their gender identity. On the other hand, 18 state A.G.s oppose the Biden administration policy that places foster children with families that respect the child’s gender identity or sexual orientation. A trans girl student showered with her classmates in the girl’s locker room and four girls file a sexual harassment claim. A Florida high school principal is reassigned, along with his staff, because they let a transgender girl join the girl’s volleyball team. Senator Ted Cruz is one of the sponsors of a bill that would forbid federal agencies from punishing those who refuse to use a person’s correct name or pronouns. Doctor Who introduces trans actor Yasmin Finney as Rose Noble in the first of three specials celebrating the show’s 60th anniversary. A trans man moves to Canada to escape anti trans laws in Arizona only to find there are anti trans knuckleheads up north, too. Things are getting even more scary for transgender people in Russia. Nepal is the first country in Southeast Asia to legally recognize a same-sex marriage. Some middle-school students take to X to voice their displeasure with Moms 4 Liberty. Retro Rerun: Pervert Club
In 1995 an American manga artist named Will Allison created a manga comic titled Pervert Club. It’s the story of a male high school student who comes out to the whole school as a crossdresser. As an open crossdresser he is invited to join the Pervert Club, a small group of queer fellow students. Dov Sherman, the TGF contributor who wrote about manga and other things back in the ’90s reviewed Pervert Club in 1997. Today we pull her review out of the darkest depths of the TGF Archives.

A survey says voters think that doctors should decide whether patients should get gender-affirming care, not politicians. Trans veterans threaten to sue the Department of Veteran Affairs over delays in gender-confirmation surgery. A Christian school is not allowed to compete in any sports over their refusal to play a team with a transgender player. Florida legislators introduce a bill to stop employees from sharing their pronouns. A new film titled The Dads features five fathers talking about their transgender children. Although the Ayatollah Khomeini issued a fatwa proclaiming gender-affirming surgery okay the country doesn’t have the doctors, psychological and surgical, to provide care. Mexico’s first non-binary magistrate is found murdered. A former Chicago police sergeant is found guilty of kidnapping a transgender woman and sexually abusing her. Florida wants to lift the injunction keeping the state from enforcing its anti’ drag law — the Supreme Court says no. Marjorie Taylor Greene introduces an amendment to the budget which would cut the salary for Secretary of Health Rachel Levine to one dollar. The United Nations Human Rights Committee says it is “deeply concerned” about human rights in the United States. A new study shows that the use of testosterone in trans men and gender-diverse individuals increases the desire for sexual activity. Marlon Wayans reveals that one of his children is transgender. The Keystone Conference is accepting proposals for presentations at the 2024 conference. New Jersey launches a website with resource for transgender and non-binary residents of New Jersey. It’s good news for transgender candidates, as well as for Democrats who defend transgender rights when all the votes were counted. One right wing group spent $2,000,000 opposing the governor of Kentucky but Democrat Andy Bashear won re-election. The courts are staying busy with lawsuits over anti-trans laws and lawsuits against the lawsuits against anti-trans laws. The U.S. House of Representatives goes back to work but keeps writing funding bills filled with “poison pills” that would take away trans people’s rights if they passed. Gender confirmation surgeon Dr. Marci Bowers speaks out against anti-trans legislation. A gay man sues the gender clinic he went to because they approved him for HRT and gender-confirmation surgery. He says approving him is illegal because it’s “conversion therapy.” Transgender people living in rural communities in the U.S. are more likely to have undiagnosed conditions which could lead to heart issues. Hunter Schafer destroys the red carpet in an awe inspiring dress. The company that owns the Miss Universe pageant goes bankrupt. A public official comes out as a crossdresser in a southern town and the blowback causes him to take his own life. What’s on the menu at Dina’s Diner? A sexploitation actress from the ’70s who played a trans woman in an ’80s film makes a tasty appetizer. Looking at the salad section of the menu we find that homecoming attire for juniors is provocative. under entrees we find that some weight gain for an already busty lady TV presenter on the BBC causes a kerfuffle. The other entree is a perfect slice of the classic sexy redhead. For dessert the Diner offers the pantsless trend featuring leggy ladies with only dark hose covering their lower body. Patriarchy and Politics
Rabbah Rona Matlow believes that religious orthodoxy, Jewish and Christian, has corrupted biblical and other religious texts to defend the oppression of trans people. According to the Hebrew Bible and the rabbinic commentaries that follow it, sex and gender have ALWAYS been non-binary. Politicians use the cherry picked or corrupted text to make trans and nonbinary people into “the other” so they can stay in power. The lesson of the election on November 7 shows the people don’t support the right wing oppression of transgender people.

The U.S. Supreme Court considers a case brought by a licensed counselor who is a devout Christian who wants to use conversion therapy on consenting patients. A federal judge rules mothers of cisgender girls cannot join a lawsuit attempting to keep transgender females off of girls’ sports teams. Nine Republican governors sign a letter to the NCAA, urging they review and change their policy on transgender athletes in women’s sports. Gays Against Groomers calls for a huge rally to stop the “war on children” and 12 people show up. A study finds that puberty blockers may cause loss of bone density but once started on hormones bone density improves to normal levels. The contestant on Big Brother U.K. who came out as trans is voted off the show. A former patient who underwent conversion therapy urges Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to ban the practice. As transgender patients leave Texas and other states in search of gender-affirming medical care, the demand is so great that clinics in New Mexico are experiencing waiting lines.
