A Mexican newscaster is the first newscaster to do his show in drag. He received death threats as a result. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

The National Center for Transgender Equality released data from its 2022 U.S. transgender Survey this week. 92,329 transgender and non-binary sent in their results. There is a lot of data on a lot of topics, but the biggest news is that nearly all the respondents reported that they are happier with their lives after transitioning. CNN has this story.

The National LGBTQ Task Force announced that Kris Hayashi will be their new Director of Advocacy and Action. He has served as the Executive Director of the Transgender Law Center. This story comes from The Advocate.

The Virginia state legislature has defeated the entire slate of anti-transgender legislation before it this year. Among the defeated bills are a bill to deny gender-affirming care to transgender minors, a bill to prohibit transgender females from competing in girls’ and women’s sports, and a bill which would have outed transgender students to their parents. The Advocate has this story.

In response to comments from the public regarding its proposed rules on medical care for transgender adults, the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio Department of Mental Health have issued revised rules which seem to be far less restrictive. This story comes from The Hill.

A week after Utah passed its version of an anti-transgender bathroom bill, NBC News looks back at the furor caused by North Carolina’s bathroom bill eight years ago, and wonders if there is as much passion to defeat this bill this time.

Daria Bloodworth, a transgender woman from Colorado, has had her Canadian refugee status revoked. Ms. Bloodworth says that she is has been stalked and worse in the U.S. due to her gender identity, but a Canadian judge feels that Colorado authorities can adequately protect her. This story comes from the New York Post.

The Georgia legislature has introduced a so-called “women’s bill of rights,” which in reality does not give women more rights, but rather, denies rights to transgender women. If it passed, a crime committed on account of the victim’s gender identity or sexual orientation would not be considered a hate crime, and it would redefine legal “sex” as “the biological state of being male of female in the context of reproductive potential or capacity.” The Advocate has this story.

A cisgender girl in Utah is receiving police protection for death threats, after a member of the state Board of Education claimed that she was transgender. She is cisgender, but was misidentified by this board member as transgender. This story comes from CNN Wire.

Florida’s Democratic members of Congress all signed a letter urging President Biden to use his powers to block Florida’s driver’s license gender marker ban for transgender individuals using the Real ID Act, in an attempt to get around Florida’s ban on changing the gender listed on licenses and ID cards. Erin Reed has this story.

Transgender activists staged what they call a “die-in” at driver’s license offices, to protest the state’s new rule which refuses to update the gender listed on a driver’s license. This story comes from Florida Politics.

Students in Alberta walked out of class in protest over the province’s announced policies regarding transgender minors. CBC News has this story.

Cosmopolitan has a story about Madelyn and Margo Whitley, twins who are both transgender and both models.

Representative Greg Steube of Florida and Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama have filed a bill under which would prohibit transgender women from participating on U.S. Olympic teams. This story comes from The Hill.

The Transformation Project, a transgender advocacy group, received an apology and $300,000 for the sudden cancellation of its contract with the state of South Dakota in 2022. The Nebraska Examiner has this story.

A new law in California allows PrEP without a prescription. HIV Plus magazine has this story.

The New York Times ran an opinion piece which seemed to say a lot of transgender youths are getting gender confirmation surgery, and end up regretting it. Of course, this is not the case–gender confirmation surgery on minors is rare, and in the U.S., it is not done before the age of 17. On top of that, very few of those who receive the surgery develop regret. An epidemiologist comes up with some slightly different numbers, but he agrees that it’s not that big a problem. AsiaSF, a restaurant featuring live entertainment in San Francisco, announced that it will be closing soon. When it does, its long-running cabaret show featuring trans entertainers will end as well. PinkNews has this story. Thanks to Shelley Baker for a tip about the story.

Indiana began a forum for reporting schools which teach LGBTQ issues. Erin Reed reports that it has received a lot of memes as a way of protesting.
