What’s the news about trans visibility in film and video? Eddie Izzard talks about her one woman show on Late Night with Steven Colbert. There’s no joy in Joyland after the Pakistani government bans showings of the film. Elliot Page has written a book that will be out next year. Aging While Trans and Happy Holidays
We again this year have the Winter Solstice occur with a new moon, making things extremely dark. This is why so many far northern cultures developed the Yule festivals in the first place. Of course practices from the Yule are what are seen now in the Christmas tree, the Hanukkah and Kwanzaa candles and many other winter holiday features. We work to bring light into a very dark time in our lives.

Kandi’s Busy Month
if there’s one thing you can say about Kandi Robbins it’s that she is busy, busy, busy. October saw her modeling bridal gowns in two bridal shows. She was selected to be Miss December in a calendar, and she had an online conversation with Tom Hanks. Kandi is so busy that she had no time to write a blog post for TGF so she sent us photos and videos from the bridal shows
A History of Tapestry Magazine, Part 1
Dallas Denny joins our New Content today with Part 1 of the history of Tapestry Magazine. It began in the late ’70s as a typewritten newsletter and became over the next decade the go-to publication for information on all things trans. It was through one of the personal ads in Tapestry that our editor Angela Gardner first made contact with other crossdressers, including JoAnn Roberts, which led to a long association with JoAnn’s LadyLike magazine and TGFroum.
Families We Choose
Many times people become separated from their families. This occurs for a variety of reasons. Oftentimes transgender people either leave their biological family rather than face coming out to them, or, more often, they do come out and are rejected by those who should offer love and support. Book Review: “To the Hilt” & “War Paint”
This Retro Rerun post from the TGForum Archives was the first in a series of reviews of books with transgender themes or characters. The reviewer was Elizabeth Parker and she started writing book reviews for TGF in 1997. In this post she reviews two books, one with what is surely a trans woman main character and the other that features a detective who adopts the guise of a woman to do his investigation. Both books are available through Amazon and Goodreads.
Elections and Insanity
Sophie Lynne wishes everyone a peaceful holiday but wants you to know that the forces aligned against the trans community have already introduced serious anti-transgender bills. One such bill in Texas treats any attempt at helping a transgender child through gender-affirming care as child abuse and activates government forces to stop the “abuse”.
