Welcome to The Week In Trans! Today we learn that a former male jockey wants to win a race after transition. Massachusetts postpones elective surgeries due to the pandemic. SCOTUS refuses to hear a case about schools accepting student’s gender identities. President Elect Biden is expected to lift the trans military ban after he is sworn in. A Trump supporting drag performer gets harassed by Trump supporters at the D.C. rally. Violence against trans women continues. NYC’s loitering law may be rescinded and no longer used to harass trans women. Michigan’s anti-discrimination policy does not cover sexual orientation but does cover gender identity. Cher admits she was upset when her daughter came out as a trans man. The first transgender character to appear on network TV was George Jefferson’s Navy buddy who transitioned in The Jeffersons. RuPaul’s Drag Race has a trans man drag queen this season. The theory that Mona Lisa is Leonardo in drag has turned up again but this time researchers will attempt to prove it. There’s all that news and a lot more plus several TWIT Awards handed out in this edition of TWIT.

Digging into the TGForum Archives we found a post from 1997 by Ms Bob & Carol Kleinmaier on the early 20th century female impersonator Julian Eltinge. He appeared in vaudeville, on Broadway and in movies, both silent and the talkies. There hasn’t been a female impersonator as popular or famous until the arrival of RuPaul on the drag scene. Julian Eltinge, The Crinoline Girl is our Retro Rerun and is illustrated with photos that did not appear in the original post.

Super Awesome Shopping Day
For a married crossdresser whose wife is aware but the children don’t know dad has a much softer side it can be hard to get out and have dress up fun. Especially during a pandemic that has many of a crossdresser’s usual haunts shutdown, either early or completely. Julie Slowinski is one such lady who has to plan painstakingly and in advance to have a few hours of fun. This month she tells us about a simple shopping day followed by dinner.
