A survey shows that transgender Americans are more “hopeful” now that Vice President Kamala Harris is the Democratic party’s presumed nominee for president. A federal judge in Florida rules that the state’s health plan for state employees must cover gender-affirming medical care. A judge in Ohio has upheld that state’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors. Demand for gender services are so outstripping supply by the National Health Service in the U.K. that the current estimated waiting time for an appointment is ten years. Elliot Page was asked what he thought of the Republican party’s “obsession” with transgender children. A panel of the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rules that a school district in Ohio may ban anti-transgender bullying. The U.S. Senate passes the Kids Online Safety Act, but the House of Representatives moved to table the act. In Virginia, a judge rules a cisgender student may sue her school district over its trans restroom policy. San Francisco Mayor London Breed raised a transgender pride flag at city hall. A transgender woman who was fired by Liberty University because of her gender identity files a lawsuit against the university. TERFs pick on two cisgender female boxers who they believe are transgender. Nepal’s Supreme Court recognizes a transgender woman, Rukshana-Kapali, as a woman. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer signs a bill in to law that prohibiting the use of trans panic as a legal defense. A federal judge denies a request by Moms For Liberty which would have expanded the injunction against the Biden administration’s new rules regarding discrimination against transgender people, including students. The state of West Virginia requested that the Supreme Court rule on whether the state needs to cover gender-affirming care in its Medicaid program. The Supreme Court of Nebraska upholds that state’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors. New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signs three anti-transgender pieces of legislation in one day this week. The Olympics seems to be tipping toward excluding transgender athletes from high-level competitions. A new short film, called It’s Okay is about the bans on drag shows and story time. British doctors and medical professionals who deal with transgender patients issue a set of guidelines for treatment. The trans woman politician in Russia who was told to detransition says she won’t. A phone call to Sophie’s office at PSU led her to help an alumnus who had spent years identifying as a crossdresser for years but was feeling there was more to it. They were becoming aware that perhap they were transgender and wanted help. Sophie gave them personal counseling and as she did she remembered when she was in need of help.

The Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upholds Tennessee’s law banning drag performances in venues where minors can be admitted. J.D. Vance took one of his step father’s last names but the GOP says trans people can’t pick their names. The emphasis on anti-transgender legislation causes at least one couple, life-long Republican voters, to abandon the party. Eve Lindley stars in Queens of the Dead. In Britain the Labour party replaces the Conservatives but the new Health Secretary wants to permanently ban puberty blockers. Last week right-wing news sites reported that the Biden administration pushed some medical organizations to recommend surgery for minors. That was not what the administration was doing. Last week, the Supreme Court struck down a ruling which had told courts they should give a good bit of weight to the position of federal agencies in deciding cases. Non-binary runner Nikki Hiltz qualified for the U.S Olympic team. Several former contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race have formed Drag PAC. It’s dedicated to getting Gen Z to register and vote. The Cass Review got another critical response this week. A group from Yale said the Review,”obscures key findings, misrepresents its own data, and is rife with misapplications of the scientific method.” Indya Moore has been cast as Wanda in season two of The Sandman. Keir Starmer is the new Prime Minister of England. He has said some things which make us hopeful. A transgender Russian politician is ordered by her government to detransition or be sent to a mental institution. The Supreme Court agrees to take a look at the constitutionality of Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors. A judge in Montana rules a bill in that state which defined people’s sex according to chromosomes was too vague. Some doctors in Florida are again providing gender-affirming medical care. The Texas Supreme Court rules the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors is constitutional. The Ohio House of Representatives attach a provision to the education bill banning transgender students from using the restroom corresponding to their gender identity. 617 anti-transgender bills were filed this year. Two members of the California Assembly almost come to blows over a bill preventing school districts from enforcing policies to notify parents if their child shows up at school in a different gender. Due to all the anti-transgender legislation distress, depression, and suicidal thoughts have been increasing. The majority of young people getting breast reduction surgery are cisgender males who developed unwanted breasts. A group of clinicians and academics publishes a review of the Cass Report. They call it “deeply flawed.” Next year’s Tokyo marathon will include a “non-binary” category. Peru announces it will no longer classify transgender people as “mentally ill.” President Biden issues a pardon to all veterans who were convicted and discharged because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
