Former President Donald Trump said this week that he would ban transgender athletes competing on sports teams by executive order. He did not mention how he would check to see who is transgender. It may come as a surprise to him to find that the Olympics have stopped using simple chromosome tests because they often return unreliable results–sometimes even contradictory results for the same person. Colin Allred, who is running for U.S. Senate in Texas, has been attacked in ads for supporting transgender athletes, which the ads describe as “boys in girls’ sports.” He has responded by denying that he does not support “boys in girls’ sports.” Some see this as a subtle way to say that he sees transgender females as females, not as males. However, others feel that unless he specifically states that, he is just admitting the power of the accusation. Erin Reed has this story.

As we have reported, several Republican Attorneys General have joined in a law suit to strike down a new rule by the Biden administration, which would add “gender identity” to a list of disabilities, for protection from discrimination. According to an article in Mother Jones, the suit would strike down not just protections for people with gender dysphoria, but protections for all people with disabilities.

Some mental health therapists are convinced that election anxiety is showing up in LGBTQ people, especially those who are young. Indeed, nearly three-quarters of LGBTQ people in Gen Z told a recent survey that concerns about the outcome of this election is having an effect on their mental health. Into More has this story.

Hawkeye is the latest Marvel superhero to get a new secret identity, though there likely will be others. The new Hawkeye is Charli Ramsey, a two-spirit member of the Oglala tribe of the Lakota Nation. The new Hawkeye is also non-binary, according to Them.

This time, the report says that he listened to them.

A woman with a history of anti-transgender posts on social media was accused of being a transgender woman while in a restroom at an airport in Chicago. She got a taste of what it feels like to be treated as she has treated transgender women. While some have given her the benefit of the doubt, and treated her as if she is learning a lesson, others have pretty much written her off as one who will revert to her old ways when the immediacy of this experience wears off.
