Back to the Fray!
Lynda Martini has taken a big step and had breast augmentation and facial feminization surgery. She is out at work and has developed a renewed interest in meeting people who may become romantic partners. She is using a couple of online dating sites and is looking forward to going out on some dating encounters. If the dates don’t work out she’s thinking of getting a cuddly stuffed animal to hug. Today she puts forth her self-created 5 Point Plan for Dating Success.
All Just a Dream?
Amanda wasn’t fitting in in California. She had anxiety and depression almost every day. She missed the East Coast and her family. It was particularly hard during the holidays. At the urging of her online friends she decided to finally take another big step in her life and head back east. Now she is living in Baltimore, thinking about looking for a job and beginning to think that her life is just a dream. A bad dream, and she can’t wake up.

As Katherine Diaz has learned more and been tutored in the art of crossdressing she has been exposed to many of the great female impersonators and drag artists of her country. The Week In Trans 3/11/19
What do we learn today in The Week In Trans? Chelsea Manning is back in the slammer for refusing to answer grand jury questions. The legal battles over the trans military ban continue. This week the House will take up the Equality Act. Trans people who ran for congress last year lost because they didn’t raise enough money. Danica Roem has raised more money after she was threatened with pickets from the Westboro Baptist Church. There’s a European drag river cruise set for this summer. Some trans people are not told that they may not be fertile after they begin hormone therapy. A 9-year-old trans kid is profiled on the BBC. Martina Navratilova has apologized for her comments on trans women athletes — sort of. An Egyptian trans woman was taken into custody and has not been heard from. There is a mistrial in the case of the D.C. men who robbed trans women and murdered one. There’s all that and much more waiting for you in TWIT!

What tasty tidbits will Dina Amberle tease you with in this edition of Dina’s Diner? So glad you asked. First she stirs up a batch of dish on the fashion designer who sent men down the runway at his menswear show in menswear converted into not very attractive dresses. Then she delivers a tribute to the women of the twenty first century with the story of the warrior woman Shannon Kent who was killed in the line of duty. Moving on to a sweeter dish Dina blends in some movie scenes that touched her crossdressing nerve and helped make her be the woman she is today. Then it’s a soufflé of body suits and leotards to round out today’s menu at Dina’s Diner. Be sure to stop on by.
Overthinking?
It’s been nine months since Claire Hall came out to the world as a woman. In that time she has learned a lot about her gender and about being a woman. Today she wonders if maybe her joy at the simple things like hairdos, makeup, clothes and all the other “feminine” accoutrements might seem shallow, and perhaps taking pleasure from compliments on those things might be a mistake. But then, maybe she’s just overthinking.
Review: Fictionmania
Sophie Lynne has been our Page Pundit since 2017. Her job as the Pundit has been to review books by trans writers and books about transgender subjects. When she took on this task she was employed at a bookstore so getting material was easy. She is no longer working there and Sophie has decided to doff her Page Pundit hat and return to delivering her personal blog every four weeks. She ends her run as the Pundit with a final post that reviews a website which publishes transgender fiction.

Lavern Cummings, The Sophisticate of Song
Classic female impersonator Paul Lavern Cummings passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada in March of 2018 after being severely injured in an auto accident. Back in 1999 TGForum ran an interview with Cummings that was conducted by TGF contributor Ken Spaulding. Time once again for The Week In Trans! Today we learn that the TransGriot blog disappeared for a short while before it was returned to the web. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand says she supports non-binary gender identity. An airline industry group will be adding an unspecified gender identification on plane tickets. A post-operative trans woman prisoner is serving her time in a male prison. California’s Director of Digital Media is a trans man. A Dutch study indicating that hormones may cause heart problems for trans people may be flawed. Some trans people are afraid facial recognition software could out them but the designers of the software have given very little thought to transgender people. ’60s trans soul singer Jackie Shane passed away and has obituaries in major newspapers. A Spring Offensive
As spring approaches Dana Bevan wants you to prepare for a Spring Offensive. Not to say she wants you to offend anyone. It’s a call for all good trans people to get out there into society and make your presence known. Not by waving signs or marching but by being there where the cisgender people go. Dining in a restaurant. Setting next to them at the movies. Picking up the dry cleaning or at a car wash scrubbing your ride. Robert was just exploring his sister’s closet looking in wonder at the variety of colors and fabrics. Just as he was zipping up one of her skirts which he had paired with a white short sleeved blouse he was startled by a shriek from the doorway of her room. After she settled down, his sister Daisy was scared that it was a stranger in her room, she asked Robert if he’d like to have her help him dress like a girl. When he said yes she applied makeup to his face and dressed him is a cute dress. Then their mother found out what was going but was supportive. Find out what’s next for Emily in chapter 2.

And now! The Week In Trans! Today we learn that the Canadian government used its Twitter account to promote a Canadian drag performer on RuPaul’s Drag Race. South Dakota’s House of Representatives passed a bill banning education on transgender issues to elementary school students. Tennessee is working on a law that puts being trans in the restroom in the same as exposing ones self. But the state also has decided crimes against trans people are hate crimes. Congress is seeing bills in both houses designed to protect trans military personnel. An actress playing a trans role in a BBC mystery turns out to be trans herself. The goal of a trans woman named Erin Parisi is to climb the highest mountains on each continent. A Naval Academy graduate alleges she was forced to resign because she is trans while the Navy maintains she sexually harassed someone. A trans woman is suing Harvard saying that she was denied admission to graduate programs there after she rebuffed sexual advances by someone in the admissions office. Twists
Sophie Lynne has been out of work for over a year. He unemployment has run out and the rent is going to be due. But to add a twist to her story, she has been accepted into the Ph.D. program at Penn State in the middle of Pennsylvania. If everything works out Sophie will move to “Happy Valley” to start classes in August. Will her roommate move with her? Will she be able to pay the rent and find a new place in State College? Time will tell. Read her post about the twists her life has taken.

Today she discusses why she went that route and considers whether she will take the next step on her path — getting a vagina. She wonders about her future when that happens and postulates several ways things that things could turn.

Katherine Diaz is exploring the world of drag “transformsitas” in her city of Bogota, Columbia. one thing has led to another and she went from a lone crossdresser to becoming a glamorous drag performer who appears on stage in various venues around the city. Her acceptance by the performers has allowed her to learn about many aspects of drag. Today she blogs about her experiences and as always provides a video.
7 Weeks in Baltimore
Amanda has completed her cross country journey and is now living in Baltimore, Maryland. She is done with the traveling part of her journey and now has to concentrate on getting a job. Today she files a report on how she is feeling about this new portion of her life.
