My Life as Savannah: Lunch and Goodbyes
In the last chapter of Savannah’s story we saw her gorgeously attired in a fabulous gown with flawless hair and makeup attending a gala event at the country club. She was escorted by the southern gentleman, Fred who treated her like a southern belle. Today we visit with Savannah the day after the big glamour event. Fred is picking her up to take her to lunch at the club and his parents are coming, too. Then the plan is for Savannah to “return to Atlanta” for the school year.

Even though Puerto Rico is far out at sea it is the epicenter of violence against trans people in the U.S. A trans man alleges he was not hired by the New Orleans police due to his transgender status. A non-binary person runs for the Erie County Executive office. Demi Lavato come out as non-binary. Nikkie De Jager hosted the semifinal round of the Eurovision Song Contest. Trans and Subconscious and Conscious Mechanisms
Dr. Dana Bevan delves into the effect of the subconscious on the behavior of transgender people. How important are subconscious mechanisms that are built into our nervous systems and brains? While Sigmund Freud became famous by sexualizing, and then popularizing the idea of the subconscious he did not scientific research to back up his “theories” about the subconscious and those assertions are still harming people today.

Reports say the Biden administration is gearing up to fight the anti-trans bills being passed in the states. Ohio announces plans for changing gender markers on birth certificates. The AMA announces opposition to the bills that would punish doctors for giving care to minors. Slate predicts that the anti-trans legislation will backfire. Caitlyn Jenner gives an interview from her private airplane hanger. Bad optics? Skittles candy is normally rainbow colored. For Pride month the candy will be gray and all profits will be donated to GLAAD. New Zealand weight lifter Laurel Hubbard may be the first transgender person to compete in the Olympics. Clive Barker wanted to make a version of The Mummy with the Mummy being a beautiful trans woman. He was ahead of his time. Dwayne Wade and his wife practically challenge anti-trans trolls to come at them. Out Traveler has a list of the best and worst nations for LGBTQ people to visit. A trans kid was isolated from the rest of his class because his teacher thought being transgender was contagious. Star Wars may have added a transgender character in the animated series The Bad Batch. There’s all that and several TWIT Awards awaiting you in TWIT!
Escapism
Christy Lewis finds similarities between her life and Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive. While discovery and exposure as a trans person wouldn’t have landed her on death row there were countless bad things that could happen if anyone discovered her secret personae. The Fugitive ran for several years and eventually there was a finale in which the real killer was found and Dr. Kimble was able to live his normal life. Christy set herself free and now feels that she is living her normal life.
