Ze provided evidence such as the National Trans Discrimination Survey, other sociological research, and then went to texts in the Torah, Talmud and Shulhan Arukh (Code of Jewish Law) which show that “saving a life overrides all biblical laws!”

Even though Puerto Rico is far out at sea it is the epicenter of violence against trans people in the U.S. A trans man alleges he was not hired by the New Orleans police due to his transgender status. A non-binary person runs for the Erie County Executive office. Demi Lavato come out as non-binary. Nikkie De Jager hosted the semifinal round of the Eurovision Song Contest. Getting the Band Back Together

Almost 50 companies have joined together to oppose anti-transgender legislation. Laverne Cox will be the new host of E! coverage of red carpet events. Pose’s Mj Rodriquez and Maya Rudolph star in a new comedy. There’s a proposal to take transgender patients out of the National Health Service in Britain and have them treated by their primary care doctors. Trans and Subconscious and Conscious Mechanisms
Dr. Dana Bevan delves into the effect of the subconscious on the behavior of transgender people. How important are subconscious mechanisms that are built into our nervous systems and brains? While Sigmund Freud became famous by sexualizing, and then popularizing the idea of the subconscious he did not scientific research to back up his “theories” about the subconscious and those assertions are still harming people today.

Reports say the Biden administration is gearing up to fight the anti-trans bills being passed in the states. Ohio announces plans for changing gender markers on birth certificates. The AMA announces opposition to the bills that would punish doctors for giving care to minors. Slate predicts that the anti-trans legislation will backfire. Caitlyn Jenner gives an interview from her private airplane hanger. Bad optics? Skittles candy is normally rainbow colored. For Pride month the candy will be gray and all profits will be donated to GLAAD. New Zealand weight lifter Laurel Hubbard may be the first transgender person to compete in the Olympics. Clive Barker wanted to make a version of The Mummy with the Mummy being a beautiful trans woman. He was ahead of his time. Dwayne Wade and his wife practically challenge anti-trans trolls to come at them. Out Traveler has a list of the best and worst nations for LGBTQ people to visit. A trans kid was isolated from the rest of his class because his teacher thought being transgender was contagious. Escapism
Christy Lewis finds similarities between her life and Dr. Richard Kimble in The Fugitive. While discovery and exposure as a trans person wouldn’t have landed her on death row there were countless bad things that could happen if anyone discovered her secret personae. The Fugitive ran for several years and eventually there was a finale in which the real killer was found and Dr. Kimble was able to live his normal life. Christy set herself free and now feels that she is living her normal life.

Dinner and the Ball
For several weeks Savannah has been thinking about two things; the formal ball that Fred has invited her to, and the approaching beginning of the new school year. She is excited by shopping for a gown, practicing walking in extra high heels, and learning how to come down stairs in a long skirt without falling down, but she is concerned that when school starts her feminine adventures will be over and she will have to return to a life as a boy named Kenny. The ball is most immediate since Fred has just entered her house and her mother has gone to greet him. How will this evening go?

What’s new? President Joe Biden in a speech to Congress said, “To all the transgender Americans watching at home–especially the young people who are so brave–I want you to know that your president has your back.” Meanwhile more states pass laws against transgender people’s interests. Pennsylvania’s governor vows to veto any such laws in his state. The governor of Louisiana has said he will veto a bill restricting healthcare for transgender minors. Suicide prevention groups have come out with a request for lawmakers to stop interfering with trans healthcare for minors. The AMA has urged governors to veto these bills. A professor from the University of Kansa writes about why the GOP has picked trans people as an issue requiring legislation. A trans woman who was raped while incarcerated in a male prison gets help from the Justice Department. Elliot Page sits down with Oprah Winfrey to talk about the effect of coming out. A study shows that socially-transitioned kids have the same degree of depression and anxiety as other kids their age. Laverne Cox wears a stunning gown to the Oscars.
