The TWIT never sleeps! In this special update, we have another drag queen appearing on national TV, another battle over bathroom rights, and a special TWIT of the Mid-Week!
We here at TGF’s TWIT Notes believe the phrase “breaking news” is overused. So, we’re not going to contribute to the clutter. However, from time to time, we do come across information too hot to wait until our weekly update, and so now, we break into our regularly scheduled programming to bring you these:
The Democratic Party has released their 2008 PRIDE Proclamation. Read the text of the Proclamation in their news release. And yes, they included “transgender Americans” in the wording.
On the first of May the American Psychiatric Association (APA) announced the members of the work groups who will review scientific advances and research based information to develop the fifth edition of APA’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V). The work group members are composed of more than 120 world renowned scientific researchers […]
TiVo Alert: Tuesday on Dr. Phil, Dr. Phil talks with Kayla, who used to be Michael, and the rift in the family caused by the transition. Check your local listings for details.
After our TWIT column went to press we found these other pieces of useful information laying amidst the scattered press releases, store fliers and sale coupons that we call a desk. We’ve scrapped them together and present them here. Info on Lobby Days, and how to participate in a creative photography project make up this […]
A Gary, Indiana teen sues over her prom dress. Another murder of a transgendered teen. New England T’s plan to march on their own. And GLBT leaders continue to shout for an inclusive vote in Congress. It’s a special, double-issue of TWIT Notes! Why? Because it’s cold outside, and there’s no end in sight to […]
Three more high-profile murders rock the TG community. An Algerian TS won’t get kicked out of Europe. And another county enacts transgendered protection laws. All this and more inside this edition of This Week in Transgenderism!
Miss Lynda Frank, who is 78 herself, is currently conducting a study on what happens to us “gender variant†people when we start getting old. (And we’re all going in that direction, ladies.) “By soliciting a large number of stories from as many people as possible we may be able to figure out what’s in […]
More TG’s are getting involved in politics. A Persian Gulf country is still locking up gender variants. And a purse snatcher’s reign of terror is ended. All this and more in this edition of TWIT Notes! Would you believe there’s a transgendered candidate for President? And no, we’re not talking about Guiliani. This time. Bennie […]
January 7, 2008 Today, the New Jersey General Assembly passed A4591/S2975 by a large majority of 65-10. This follows action last week in the state Senate where the bill passed unanimously 35-0. The law that passed will now go to Governor Corzine’s desk for his expected signature.
The number of people making transgendered folk look bad is at an all time high! Maybe they all want to get their names in TWIT Notes!
Gorgeous supermodel Tyra Banks will feature several gorgeous transsexual pageant contestants on her talk show, Tuesday, November 27th. Check local listings for details.
We’d like to say there was a nefarious plot by a certain gay-rights group that delayed this edition of This Week in Transgenderism, but alas, no. We’d also like to say it was the getting up early for Black Friday that caused the delay, but again: no. Instead, it was, um… aliens. Aliens stole our […]
Hey sports fans! Football season is in full swing, basketball is starting up, and we mention none of it in this edition of TWIT Notes! Instead, we’ve got a tv talk show host who’s TG, the latest on ENDA, a lesson on what methamphetamine will get you, and a laugh from a reader.
The TGF office is dark and lonely this week, as most everyone has taken off for the holidays. But, in one lonely corner cubicle, a little light shines. It’s the light of a writer who didn’t turn in her assignment on time. The sound of an aging typewriter echos across the otherwise quiet room. It […]
In the beginning, there was ENDA. And it was good. The Employment Non-Discrimination Act would prohibit job discrimination based upon sexual orientation and gender identity orientation, or appearance. The head of the Human Rights Campaign said they would not back ENDA without the gender specification. And then it all turned to shit. Pardon my French.
The “ga-ga” is for Lannie Rose, and how I’m “ga-ga” for her. The radio is for the notice that she’s going to be on it this week. Lannie is a former TGForum columnist who will be appearing to talk about her latest book.
The problem with eBay is it’s just too big. I can’t shop there because I get tired of sorting through pages and pages of stuff that’s not what I’m looking for. Or, I get distracted by other things I’m not looking for, and end up forgetting what it was I was originally hunting.
How do you compare with these demographics? “At least once a month, 88 percent of respondents said they dine out, 66 percent shop at a home improvement store, 63 percent go to the movies, and 53 percent exercise in a gym. Fifty percent go out to a bar or club, 39 percent visit a museum, […]
A very young Paul McCartney sang that line a long time ago. In the years since then we’ve all grown older and some of us have passed the 64 mark already. Others are approaching it. As transgender folks some of us wonder how we’ll spend our golden years. (Or tin years, or copper years, as […]
In the 21st century the so called “reality show†has become the norm on television. Any situation that can be hammered into a television format ends up on the air. Everything from talent competitions like American Idol to who’s gonna be the next Pussycat Doll have been turned into television programming. (How about a show […]
This Week in Transgenderism: Who wants to pick the balls for crossdressers? Who wore what at the Aussie Drag awards? And can you list SRS as a deduction if you’re using the 1040EZ form? All this and much, much more…
Would you accept a discount implant operation from this person? The fight for TG equality is continuing around the world. Reform Jews are okay with transsexuals. And the story of a pot-smoking TS continues after 31 years. All this and more inside this edition of the TGForum News! Have you considered moving to Brazil? SRS […]
So, I’m gone for a week, and what happens? A judge rules on hormones for a prisoner, a TS sues a bar owner in Arizona over which bathroom to use, and women learn how hard it is to run in heels. And on top of all that, Tammy Faye dies. Sheesh. Get it all, and […]
One of the first movies I ever saw that depicted a drag queen as a sympathetic character and not a crazy person was the original 1978 La Cage aux Folles. (It was released in the U.S. in 1979.) The fabulous Zaza was played by French film star Michel Serrault. Mr. Serrault had played the role […]
