Ashley Brundage, a transgender woman, wins the Democratic primary for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives. Two transgender students file suit against the state of New Hampshire over trans athlete bans. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sues the Biden administration attempting to prevent implementation of the administration’s rules on transgender people’s rights in employment. A Texas judge expands the injunction against the implementation of the new rules on the rights of transgender students. A trans woman becomes the first to win a seat in Hawaii’s state legislature. A federal appeals court in Iowa allows the implementation of an anti-LGBTQ book ban. Valentina Petrillo, a sprinter from Italy, is set to become the first transgender participant at the Paralympics. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons calls for more studies before endorsing any particular treatment for patients under age 18 with gender dysphoria. Argentina shuts down its anti-discrimination agency, following the election of a right-wing president. Rapes of transgender women in India are often unreported. In his capacity as governor of Minnesota VP candidate Tim Walz signed an executive order making that state a refuge for trans kids and their families. A survey shows that transgender Americans are more “hopeful” now that Vice President Kamala Harris is the Democratic party’s presumed nominee for president. A federal judge in Florida rules that the state’s health plan for state employees must cover gender-affirming medical care. A judge in Ohio has upheld that state’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors. Demand for gender services are so outstripping supply by the National Health Service in the U.K. that the current estimated waiting time for an appointment is ten years. Rebel groups in Colombia are killing transgender women. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
