David de Alba @ The Winchester Theatre

David de Alba, the Cuban Legend who performed at the world famous Finocchio Club in the 1970s and ’80s brought his show to the Winchester Theatre at the Dondero Cultural Centre in Las Vegas on April 1, 2023. The show was called, If I Can Turn Back Time. David did several musical numbers with anecdotes and stories from his childhood through to the present day. Last month we reached into the TGForum Archives and brought back part two of Aleisha Michelle Emerson’s series on transgender influenced rock. The articles were originally published in the late 1990s and in the first two she covered the 1950s and ’60s, and the Glam Rock trend of the ’70s. The song is titled Daughter and is about how gender transition changed many relationships in his life. In particular it changed the father-daughter relationship. Where his father had established bonds to a daughter, after Ryan’s transition his father had to learn how to change that relationship to bond with his new son.
