Today we learn many things in TWIT. Among them, Tanwarin Sukkapisit is the first transgender person elected to the parliament of Thailand. All the court stays on the trans military ban have been lifted. Several members of congress posted the transgender pride flag at their office entrances for the International Day of Transgender Visibility. A bill in California would make it illegal to do genital surgery on intersex children without their consent. A bill in Texas would let medical and legal professionals, as well as barbers deny service to people who offend their “deeply-held religious beliefs.” A research study shows that trans women have better cognitive skills if they take estrogen after GCS. Trans people in the D.C. area can take advantage of a database of healthcare providers. In the midst of the Brexit mess the British government is being petitioned to increase funding for gender clinics. Australian trans actress and advocate Georgie Stone has been cast as a transgender character on a soap opera. South Dakota’s House of Representatives passed a bill banning education on transgender issues to elementary school students. Tennessee is working on a law that puts being trans in the restroom in the same as exposing ones self. But the state also has decided crimes against trans people are hate crimes. Congress is seeing bills in both houses designed to protect trans military personnel. An actress playing a trans role in a BBC mystery turns out to be trans herself. The goal of a trans woman named Erin Parisi is to climb the highest mountains on each continent. A Naval Academy graduate alleges she was forced to resign because she is trans while the Navy maintains she sexually harassed someone. A trans woman is suing Harvard saying that she was denied admission to graduate programs there after she rebuffed sexual advances by someone in the admissions office. The head of one of the groups opposing Massachusetts’s anti-discrimination law admits his group make up the trans predator stories. The Republican governor of Indiana wants a bill to protect transgender people in his state. A French teacher has lost is job over his refusal to use a student’s preferred pronouns.
