Today we welcome a new contributor to TGForum. Kathe Perez is a certified speech-language pathologist and internationally recognized transgender voice trainer. She will be contributing to TGForum several times in 2015. Today she tells the story of how she became interested in working with the TG community to give trans women better voices. Dana Bevan was called upon to help put together a course to educate police officers about transgenderism. The course was being developed by the Department of Justice and was slated to be rolled out to police departments around the country. Dana participated in a trial run of the course in Atlanta but then, after being told to wait for contact from the DOJ, she heard nothing. Every year around this time our own Sophie Lynne treks to central Pennsylvania for something of a spiritual retreat. She’s been doing it for the past seven years.
