Many trans people are also people of faith. They often find that their transgender nature keeps them from worshipping as part of the church they were raised in. While the Catholic Pope has made positive statements about how the clergy should deal with transgender people, he has also made statements that indicate the Catholic Church is not a friend to transgender people. On November 29 our contributor Christine Zuba was invited to dinner with Cardinal Joseph Tobin in Newark, New Jersey. This invitation was extended to members of the LGBT community and was an effort by the Cardinal to get advice about how to move the conversation about the Church and LGBT people forward. Christine reports on how that dinner went.

The GLAAD 2016 Media Awards, which recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of LGBT people, were held last week in New York City and our own Christine Zee was on hand for the festivities. Christine Zee has been blogging about her transition journey all summer and now in the fall of the year she is nearing the end of her trek. In this month’s installment Christine’s mother shows some progress is accepting her. Her legal name change is now in the works and she is set to take a several business trips in the next few weeks during which she will come out to more of her colleagues and associates.

Our contributor and gal pal Christine Zee went to the Southern Comfort Conference in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area. This is the 25th year of this venerable event and there was concern that moving it from Atlanta to Florida would change the tone of the conference. Christine’s Journey continues. So far things have been proceeding according to her plan. She is on track to begin full-time as a woman on December 1. She has spoken to all the management people at her job and is getting a “coming out” letter for her clients. Intensive electrolysis is doing its job. There are a couple of problems though, with family. And so the journey continues.

Christine Zee has embarked on her gender journey. She is moving toward living full time in her preferred gender and she is documenting the steps along the way in this blog. Today she moves closer to being Christine full-time. She completes disclosure of her intentions to her family, and gets closer to the all important reveal to her employer and associates. There are bumps in the road; her son does not want to see her, but her journey continues.
