As we mentioned in the news, the Trump administration is looking into declaring being transgender such a serious mental health problem that it can prevent all transgender people from owning firearms. One of many problems with this is that every genuine professional organization for mental health–especially the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association–regard being transgender as not a mental health issue at all. Another serious problem with this is that the Republican party has a long track record of insisting that the second amendment means that every U.S. citizen has a right to own a firearm, even though that right has historically been denied to a great many Americans. For abandoning the principle of individual gun ownership, and for taking a position which will do nothing to solve the problem but continuing to argue that it will solve the problem, the Trump Department of Justice gets a TWIT. Sebastian Gorka is supposed to be a counterterrorism expert, but Brianna Keilar of CNN made him look very foolish when she confronted him with facts about how few mass shootings have been done by transgender shooters, when he tried to peddle the usual unsubstantiated line about how so many mass shooters are transgender. For not doing his homework, for trying to peddle a load of hooey, and for not realizing that he was being confronted with truth, Sebastian Gorka gets a TWIT. This story comes from The Advocate.
