A federal appeals court for the First Circuit has President Trump’s executive order that passports list the person’s sex “at conception.” The judges held that the Trump administration failed to show that the order does not violate federal law, or that enjoining the policy would cause “irreparable harm” to the government. Moreover, the court found that the policy has its roots in “unconsitutal animus towards transgender Americans.” The Hill has this story.
Lindsay Hecox has asked the Supreme Court to withdraw her from the lawsuit she filed against the state of Idaho. She says in the six-page brief that she no longer wishes to join the women’s track and cross-country teams at Boise State University. This story comes from SCOTUSblog.
The Trump administration has announced that they are looking into the possibility of banning transgender people from owning firearms. While it is true that this proposal will do nothing to solve the problem of mass shootings, given how seldom the shooter is transgender, it can be safely assumed that the proponents of this will continue to think, and say, that the policy has produced great results. Newsweek has this story. Even the N.R.A. is opposed to the idea of banning transgender people from owning guns, according to CNN.
The Texas legislature has passed its bathroom bill aimed at transgender people. The bill imposes a fine of up to $25,000 for the first offence, and up to $125,000 for continued offences. The 19th* has this story.
The Michigan House of Representatives has passed a bill which would prevent transgender students from using the restroom which matches their gender identity at school. The bill is now sent to the state Senate, which has no intention whatsoever of taking up the legislation. The Republicans have a majority in Michigan’s House of Representatives, but the Democrats have the majority in the state Senate. This story comes from Bridge Michigan.
The Denver School District has taken a stand in favour of transgender students. It will not enact a policy forcing them to use the restroom of their “biological sex.” Erin Reed has this story.

Former TV writer Graham Linehan has been arrested for anti-transgender posts that he made on X. He went beyond saying that trans women are men, and called trans women “violent criminals” if they use the ladies’ restroom. He advocated that people noticing this “punch” the transgender person “in the balls.” He was charged with “inciting violence” in his social media posts. The Associated Press has this story.
Monica Helmes, the transgender Navy veteran who created the original Transgender Pride Flag, has left the United States for Costa Rica. She does not feel safe in the U.S. with the current administration’s anti-transgender policies, according to Erin Reed.
