As we mentioned in the news, Elon Musk is leading a campaign to remove transgender characters from Netflix. His primary example is Dead End: Paranormal Park, a series which has not aired new content since January of 2023. For attempting to get rid of a show which was cancelled over two years ago, and for demanding the removal of transgender characters so that trans people won’t see themselves reflected on the screen, Elon Musk gets a TWIT. Erin Reed of Erin In The Morning has this story.

Liberty University is citing “religious freedom” as a reason for dismissal of a lawsuit over the firing of a former employee. The reason why that employee was fired is that she is transgender. For using “religious freedom” as an excuse to be above civil law, Liberty University gets a TWIT. This story comes from WSET-TV.

Michael Flynn, a former official in the first term of President Trump, has filed a brief in the case of the ban on transgender people in the military. He argues that giving transgender people “ready access to fully automatic firearms and other powerful weapons might not be the best of ideas.” Mind you, he thinks that giving conservatives “ready access to fully automatic firearms and other powerful weapons” is a good idea, even though a whole lot of mass shootings have been done by conservatives. He also argues that the courts have no power to review the president’s military policies, even though the Constitution has no such clause. For trying to give the president unchecked power, and for bringing up the disproved notion of transgender people with firearms being dangerous, Michael Flynn gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.

The Heritage Foundation used false data to show that half of school shootings are the work of transgender people. While school shootings are a subset of all mass shootings, and while transgender people are slightly more likely to be involved in school shootings than in mass shootings in general, the Heritage Foundation is wrong in trying to blame half of school shootings on transgender people For using bad data to support a theory based more on prejudice than on fact, the Heritage Foundation gets a TWIT. This story comes from Wired magazine.

In cases of mass shootings, the right will often bend over backwards to blame transgender people for the violence. However, last week, a supporter of President Trump opened fire at a Mormon church in Michigan. No transgender person was involved. The right has been quiet about the involvement of one of their own in this incident, as Erin Reed of Erin In The Morning notes, but they sure are noisy when there seems to be a transgender person involved. For failing to take responsibility for the work of their own followers, the right-wing pundits citing connections between mass shootings and transgender people get a TWIT.
