Earlier this month, it was announced that the Trump administration would restore an option to the suicide prevention line which would allow users to request to speak to someone with training in dealing with LGBTQ people. This week, it was reported that complicated requirements have caused the Trevor Project to not apply. For creating a situation in which the leading authority cannot even apply, the people who created the complicated guidelines get a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
PinkNews reports that a textbook which is used for Spanish classes in British secondary schools contains an example which provides the translation for “He (or She) fights (or fought) for transgender rights.” The article mentions that the example has created controversy about the textbook “pushing an agenda.” In reality, the statement can be a compliment, or it could be a statement of a character flaw, depending on the view of the person making the statement. For getting upset because of the presumed attitude of the speaker, those opposing the example get a TWIT.
Missouri legislators have passed and Governor Mike Kehoe has signed into law a bill which forbids the state Department of Corrections from providing gender-affirming care to prisoners. For forcing all transgender prisoners to detransition, and for joining the fight to be the leading state in anti-transgender law, Missouri lelgislators and Governor Mike Kehoe get a TWIT.
