As we mentioned in the news, the State Department of the United States will now include in its report of human rights violations the number of “chemical or surgical mutilation of children,” which is to say, the number of children who receive gender-affirming medical care. For turning gender-affirming care into a human rights violations, when in fact the state refusing to allow gender-affirming care is a human rights violation, the U.S. Department of State gets a TWIT. National Security has this story.
We also mentioned in the news that Republicans are seeking to ban gender-affirming care from being paid by subsidies to the Affordable Care Act. For continuing to neglect the many studies which show the mental health and wellbeing benefits of gender-affirming care because they disagree with it, Republicans in Congress get a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story at Erin In The Morning.
In the news, we mentioned that the BBC referred to a transgender woman as “born a biological male but identifies as a woman.” For using obviously biased language in describing a litigant, BBC News gets a TWIT. This story comes from Erin Reed at Erin In The Morning.
Kemi Badenoch, the former Women and Equalities Minister who has been promoted to lead the Conservative Party in Parliament, has said that the puberty blocker trial should end, even though it has not begun. She claims “no child is born in the wrong body.” For ignoring the many good medical studies which show the mental health and wellbeing benefits of gender-affirming care, and instead pressing a religious-based line that God does not make mistakes. Kemi Badenoch gets a TWIT. PinkNews has this story.
