What is the name of your organization? Where are you based?
The name of our organization and event is “En Femme: A Sissy Soiree”. We are based in Seattle, Washington.
What is your mission?
Our mission is to take back the word Sissy from the idea of humiliation to create celebration!
How long have you personally been involved with your organization?
Our organization is brand new. The organizers behind this event have been involved with the kink and sex positive event communities in Seattle for more than a decade. We have created and ran multiple play parties, campouts, conferences, bar events, and social meetups throughout Western Washington.
What’s the most satisfying part of your involvement?
I love that I get to help create social opportunities for people who often feel alone and are not always made to feel welcome in other spaces. I can sometimes feel lonely and isolated when I go to events and parties, so helping create something that is inclusive and welcoming of people like me is what I’m passionate about.
What Is your favorite part of what you do?
My favorite part of what I do is getting to think of fun and exciting activities for events I help organize, and then make them actually happen! I love turning silly, cute, and sometimes even complicated ideas into reality.
How do you specifically help the cross dressing and/or trans communities?
I am a big believer in the idea of community and creating space for people who often feel marginalized and lonely. By helping create social spaces and events for people who don’t always feel like they have events and parties they can go to enjoy and express themselves at, I hope I am able to contribute to someone having a fun and memorable time. All of the organizers of this event feel that there is a lack of social spaces for people who self identify as Sissies and Cross Dressers, and this event was created with them in mind.
How long have you been involved with these communities?
Our organizing team has been hosting events in the Seattle area for several years that have always been welcoming to Sissies and Cross Dressers, and this will be our first event specifically catered to those communities.
