As we mentioned in the news, the International Olympic Committee has announced the return of genetic screening for participants in women’s sports. This is not because the genetic screening has advanced, eliminating problems with previous versions. Indeed, at the 2024 games, a woman who had previously passed genetic screening several times failed a genetic screening. For returning to a system which frequently fails, and for caving to President Trump without demanding any sort of proof of his allegations, the International Olympic Committee gets a TWIT. The Guardian a story about reaction to this from human rights groups.
Mother Jones reports that people in President Trump’s administration have removed a lot of data gathering about transgender and non-binary people. Many of the forms changed did not even get public review, despite the importance of the changes. For pushing these changes through without asking for public feedback, the Trump administration gets a TWIT.
The United States tried to push a new definition of “woman” onto the United Nations General Assemply recently. The new definition would not recognize transgender women as women. The measure failed. For pushing such a divisive resolution, and for lying by saying that their definition of gender was already adopted 30 years ago when, at the time, the delegates refused to adopt a uniform definition of gender, leaving that up to indvidual states, the Trump administration gets another TWIT. President Trump wrote a screed on Truth Social, denouncing James Talarico, the candidate for U.S. Senate from Texas. He wrote,”The Democrat running in Texas, James Talarico, turns out to be a FRAUD. . . .He’s got six Genders, insults to Jesus, only vegan food, was wearing a mask in 2023 and 2024, and is a weak, ineffective guy who we ‘allowed’ to win prior to releasing the avalanche of information we had on him because, as bad as Crockett wa as a Candidate, this guy is worse!” For attempting to take credit for someone’s political win in the opposition party, and for trying to turn being a vegan into an insult when, in fact, the man does not stick to a vegan diet, President Trump gets a TWIT.
