You’ve come a long way baby! Just a few short years ago someone who was changing gender didn’t transition— they disappeared. Today you blog about it.

Christine Daniels worked at the Los Angeles Times for 23 years as a sports writer and—as a man named Mike Penner. Christine announced to her readers on April 27, 2007 that she had made a decision to change gender. In the past (and still in many areas and industries) she would have been fired. The LA Times has instead given her a blog which she calls Woman in Progress. (Blog will appear in a new window.)
