angela_gKeymaster“…first I need to build up the courage to go to the store and buy what I need in order to present.” This is the best time of year to shop for your girl clothes. It’s Christmas time and you’re just shopping for gifts. Also, I learned a long time ago that sales people in stores don’t care. They justy want to make sales. As transgender people we tend to get nervous about shopping when we first start expressing our feminine nature but sales people are just there to make sales.
angela_gKeymasterWelcome Shauna! Look around at young women your age and see what they wear, how they do their makeup and what hairstyles they chose. Don’t spend a lot of money on clothes at retail prices. Look at Ross, TJ Maxx and department store clearance racks. Get a makeover from a makeup artist who understands transgender needs. And use YouTube for info on how to do your own makeup, hair, nails, etc. It’s going to be hard if you have a disapproving person living with you but you have to decide if presenting as male around her is tolerable. It might be best to just come out, but you have to decide that. Best of luck! I hope you find all of our content on TGF useful.
angela_gKeymasterThe Breast Form Store has a sale on the Godl Seal Naked breastplate. They’ve marked the price down by $100.
angela_gKeymasterA clear coat can help. I find that the Sally Hanson Insta Dri comes off fairly well with a cotton ball and polish remover. Other polishes have left a stain that eventually went away.
angela_gKeymasterHere is a nail tip. I use Sally Hanson Insta Dri nail polish. It is perfect for part time ladies who want nice manicured nails for an evening out but need to be polish free for the next day’s work environment. A dark color also works well on shorter nails, making them look feminine without length that would make people wonder why their co-worker has long nails. And the Insta Dri comes off easily with a cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover. Off course, if you’re a young part time crossdresser you can paint your nails all the time and no one will care. ๐
angela_gKeymasterYou should read the report on the WPATH meeting in Argentina. (Published on Monday, 12/3/18) The report says that the purported link with autism is not true. Several papers were presented debunking that claim. Tell your mother that if she has the impression that gender is set in stone when you’re born she is going against the science. Her “research” may have been on right leaning, conservative websites where they do all they can to make it seem like transgender people don’t really exist and those who insist on living as the opposite of their birth sex are some how mentally off.
angela_gKeymasterDanni,
The Standards of Care were established so professionals (doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists) would have a guide in the treatment of transgender people transitioning genders.
https://www.wpath.org/publications/soc
You can download the Standards and read them. You then should find a psychologist in on your island and if they are not familiar with gender transition you can give them the Standards. The other advice is, make a plan. Don’t just leap into things. Read the Standards, and then look for the professionals you need to facilitate. Also have a plan for how to come out to family, friends, co-workers, etc. There is another thread on this Forum dedicated to transition questions. Check it out. Good luck!
angela_gKeymasterHi Jenny. Keep checking the Forum. I am hoping more people begin to take advantage of it.
