A federal appeals court exempts a trans student from a ban on transgender athletes. The Department of Education releases its rule on Title IX which strengthens protections for transgender students. A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit which would have supported the Nassau County ban on transgender athletes. In Ohio a court issues a temporary restraining order prohibiting the enforcement of the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for transgender youth. Kansas Governor Laura Kelly vetoes a ban on gender-affirming care for transgender minors. Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs vetoes the state’s Women’s Bill of Rights which would have replaced “gender” with “biological sex” throughout state law. Elliot Page is among the famous people on TIME magazine’s “Most Influential” list. Montana is sued over the state’s ban on changing the gender listed on state ID and driver’s licenses without surgery. A Missouri judge orders Planned Parenthood to turn over their records of transgender patients. The U.S. Supreme Court refuses to issue an injunction to stop the state of Idaho from enforcing its ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors. A new study seems to show the threat of violence against transgender people is rising. Scotland pauses prescriptions for puberty blockers for transgender minors. Bernie Wagenblast is best known for her broadcasting and voiceover careers. In 1979, about a year after graduating from Seton Hall University, she was hired as one of the original reporters for Shadow Traffic’s New York City office. A new national nonprofit aims to change the narrative of the trans community. The anti-trans bill in the Georgia legislature dies in committee. New York Attorney General Letitia James, demands the repeal of an executive order that would ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s or girl’s sports. Ohio’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors may violate a constitutional amendment passed in 2011. Meraxes Median, a 24-year-old transgender woman, is murdered in Los Angeles. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services add a third gender identity to its forms. The United Nations adopts its first ever resolution on the rights of intersex people. Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers writes a legal opinion defending legislation which would restrict trans rights in his state. A group of conservatives in Colorado file a lawsuit claiming deadnameing a transgender person is protected under the First Amendment. The Southern Poverty Law Center adds Libs Of TikTok to its list of promoters of hate and extremism. The 21st Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference takes place Thursday, September 5 through Saturday, September 7. A study finds bone mineral density of transgender youths on gender-affirming hormone therapy is generally slightly lower than average. A new Matrix film is under way. The first transgender judge in Britain is stepping down from the bench to help litigate a case that will create a legal definition of a woman. A Texas judge blocks Ken Paxton’s attempt to get private information about clients of PFLAG. The White House recognizes the Transgender Day of Visibility. Sacramento passes a resolution declaring it a sanctuary city for trans people. The ACLU files a lawsuit against Ohio’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors. Kansas and Wyoming pass bans on gender-affirming care for minors. The governor of Kansas is likely to veto it. Wyoming’s governor has signed it. An anti trans bill has passed in Georgia and waits for the governor’s signature. A majority of LGBTQ+ adults say proposed anti-LGBTQ legislation has negatively affected their mental health. Rogers is a conservative who is also a trans woman. She is frightened by what’s happening and urges everyone to watch their backs.
