Learn from History or Bust
The balls have dropped around the world (how very masculine of them) and we are once more starting a brand new day. Each year we set out to learn more and become better humans than we were before. I’ve learned that this happens whether you make the resolutions or not. There is a shift of consciousness around the world with each fresh start.
What have you learned from 2015 that you will take with you into 2016? Are you a strong enough creature to put your pedal to the metal and really learn from our collective past?
Let’s look back at the Top 5 of my TGForum columns from 2015 and see what I would like for all of us to take with us into the future. We have a lot of things to get over and a whole lot more to refine, for those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.
5: Your suicide is not acceptable, so don’t even!
With every brand New Year comes a resurgence of people “trying” to value themselves more than they did previously. Trying never works, doing is better. I am disappointed in how little people value themselves and the reasons that they do. I still believe that your suicide is not acceptable when there’s so much more to the world than what’s right in front of your face.
4: It’s all fetish.
When you’re enamored with someone it is because of your built-in fetish genes. Attraction is all fetish. Love, lust, and the yearning to be someone’s coffee table is all part of what specifically turns you on. Don’t take life so seriously! Learn to flow and love freely without worrying if it’s text book romance or just another fetish.
3: Don’t sit with the popular girls.
Groucho Marx said he wouldn’t want to belong to any club that would accept him as a member. Neither should you. Pave your own way. Sit at your own damn table. This life is yours to live and the spotlight should be your own. Never sit at the popular girl’s table!
2: Leave Caitlyn alone!
There is nothing wrong with Caitlyn Jenner. She is a rich transgender person — a person — learning her way in her own world. Caitlyn is what happens when you are a rich transgender person. Let’s move into the New Year knowing she’s just “Cait, for God’s Sake.” Oh, and you don’t have to pay any attention to her if you don’t want to!
1: Quit it with the labels.
I was too young to really grow up within the LGBT community of the mid 20th century. I have however had the privilege of being a heavy spectator of the LGBT community in the 21st century. That being said I have little to compare this to, but it would appear we have more silly labels than ever before! Quit labeling things with labels and then adding labels to those labels! When I left 1999 I left it with visions of a better century to come for ALL. I was hopeful that we would have less labels, not more. I was terribly mistaken. Too many of today’s people label constantly and take offense to everything. Knock it off!
PS: As a bonus reminder, wear what you want to wear! Halloween is every day.
