President Trump has specifically said that the Democrats are holding up a military authorization bill in order to preserve transgender health care. To be fair, it is true that transgender health care is a sticking point. However this is the sort of thing which would be seen as a point to negotiate, at the least, prior to President Trump. President Trump sees to path to negotiation, and takes to social media to denounce anyone who stands in the way of him doing whatever he wants. For acting like a dictator, President Trump gets a TWIT. Ken Klippenstein has this story.

Winsome Earle-Sears, the Republican candidate for Governor of Virginia this year, has a new 30-second ad in which she accused her opponent, Abigail Spanberger, of supporting “men in girls’ locker rooms” and of not informing parents of their child’s gender changes. For taking a cue from the current President in trying to improve a sinking campaign, and for promoting prejudice with lies, the campaign of Winsome Earle-Sears gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has signed the law intended to keep transgender people out of the restroom which does not match their “biological sex.” The las includes a $25,000 fine for the first offence, and a $125,000 fine for a repeat offence. For ignoring the many things which need to be addressed in the state of Texas and instead focusing on further marginalizing transgender people, the Texas state legislature gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them.

We mentioned in the news how the Trump administration is threatening to withhold money authorized by Congress from school districts in New York City, Chicago, and Virginia, unless they change their school restroom policy to prohibit transgender students from using the restroom of the gender with which they identify. While the Chicago School District has said it will stand firm with transgender students, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City has said, “I’m not for boys going in to the same bathroom as little girls.” For threatening to use “my authority and power to change” the law of the city of New York in this matter, New York City Mayor Eric Adams gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them.

Gordon Guyatt is a co-author of reviews of gender-affirming care. He says that the bottom line is that the reviews provide “quite good evidence” that people have benefited from gender-affirming care. He says that the authors and supporters of bans on gender-affirming care have misused the science in the studies he has co-authored, in order to support bans on gender-affirming care. The critics of these studies complain that it is “low-quality evidence,” but Mr. Guyatt points out that low-quality evidence is still evidence, and that they have no evidence that it does not work. Critics also point out that the studies are funded by people who approve of gender-affirming care, people who have an interest in such care. However, that also applies the other way–the opposition is supported financially by people who are opposed to such care. For misusing the evidence and for providing no evidence to directly counter the evidence that gender-affirming care works, critics of gender-affirming care get a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
