Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is demanding that a theatre in Pensacola cancel A Drag Queen Christmas. He called the show “demonic,” and harmful to children, even though the show is only for those over the age of 19. For calling the event “demonic” without showing any evidence that it even violates the Bible, for claiming that it hurts children when in fact they are forbidden from attending, and for attempting to use the weight of political office to force the cancellation of an event which breaks no laws, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier gets a TWIT. An article by the conservative-leaning Manhattan Institute claims that there is an “essentialism bias” in transgender medicine. The claim is that there is no “solid evidence” that transgender identity is inborn. Teachers of medical science keep publishing findings which show that indeed there is evidence that being transgender is inborn, at least in some of us. For thinking that they know the topic better than researchers, and for refusing to accept evidence presented by academic researchers, the people of the Manhattan Institute get a TWIT. This story comes from City Journal.
A week after Washington State University suspended the Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine from teaching a Continuing Medical Education course for doctors, the Michigan State Medical Society has approved a course taught by Genspect, another hate group. For approving a CME class with misinformation from a hate group, the Michigan State Medical Society gets a TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.
Some libraries in Tennessee are in “emergency closure” as they hurriedly try to remove all books with “gender-subversive” content from the children’s section. For using the excuse of state funding to force the libraries to remove any material dealing with gender identity, regardless of educational value or the views of the community, the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office gets a TWIT. This story comes from Erin In The Morning.
Prior to the Supreme Court’s recent capitulation to President Trump’s request to list the gender assigned at birth on passports, the administration said that passports issued while the lower court order was in place would not be rescinded. Now, however, the FAQ section of the State Department’s web site has been changed from a flat-out “A passport is valid for travel until its date of expiration” to add “now we investigate it under federal regulations.” For sneaking in a loophole to allow the invalidation of an otherwise legal passport, the State Department gets a TWIT. Erin Reed of Erin In The Morning has this story.
