As we mentioned in the news, the White House on Monday released a list of its accomplishments in the first 100 days of the second Trump administration. The list bragged about how the second Trump administration has taken the lead in the fight against recognition of transgender people, promised a new document opposing transgender medicine (which it delivered on Thursday), and said that it had already begun cracking down on providers of gender-affirming care to minors. For bragging about taking away the right of families to make medical decisions about their chidren’s health care, and for giving that power to the government, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. As we also mentioned in the news, on Thursday, the Trump admnistration released its “review” of scientific literature on gender-affirming medical care for minors. To the surprise of no one, the review discounted anything which supports gender-affirming care, questioning its science, while they support anything that opposes gender-affirming medical care for minors, even when it is based on bad science. The report released on Thursday is full of bad science and outright lies, according to LGBTQ Nation. For replacing good science with juki science, and for trusting a far from trustworthy Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
This week, the Department of Education called on the University of Pennsylvania to erase the records of Lia Thomas. For taking a cue from Joseph Stalin and attempting to make someone a non-person in history, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. CNN Sports has this story.
Lawmakers in the state of Georgia passed the “Riley Gaines Act,” outlawing transgender athletes. There is no evidence that there are any transgender athletes in the state of Georgia, yet the lawmakers felt that addressing this was a good use of their limited legislative time. For addressing a problem which does not exist, lawmakers in Georgia get a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
Stephen Miller, an advisor to the Department of Homeland Security, used a White House press briefing to spread misinformation about gender-affirming medical care for minors. He accused teachers of “turning boys into girls,” and said, “It is child abuse to change a child’s gender, particularly if you do not inform the parents.” For defending the right of a parent to object to a social transition for their child at age five, while denying the same parents the right to choose to allow their child to begin gender-affirming medical care until the child has already gone through puberty, Stephen Miller gets a TWIT.
