As we mentioned in the news, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has declared that Texas driver’s licenses and state ID cards must contain the sex on the person’s original birth certificate. Court orders instructing the state to change the gender of an individual are to be ignored. for overruling court orders by personal fiat, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton gets a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story.
We also mentioned in the news how Representative Keith Self introduced Representative Sarah McBride as, “the gentleman from Deleware, Mr. McBride.” Representative Self later defended himself by tweeting, “It is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.” By itself, that does not defend his deliberate misgendering of his colleague, but since President Trump’s policy does state that sex at birth cannot be overcome, we understand his point. However, for deliberately misgendering representative McBride, and for passing the blame on up the chain, Representative Keith Self gets a TWIT. This story comes from KERP-TV news.
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against Target for selling pride merchandise to minors. According to the complaint, items such as a mug labeled “gender fluid” violate the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 by “failing to disclose known risks of consumer backlash.” For claiming that Target had not anticipated a consumer boycott for selling items similar to those sold for over a decade without inducing a boycott, and for using the courts in an attempt to enact his prejudice, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier gets a TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.
President Trump seems to have dedicated a huge portion of his second term in office to attacking the rights of transgender people to exist. From declaring a nationwide ban on gender-affirming medical care for anyone under the age of 19, to automatic discharges for transgender people in the military, to passports with the sex assigned at birth as an identifier, he has made anti-transgender policy a hallmark of his administration. In a bizarre example of projection, President Trump declared in a recent press conference, “Everything is transgender. Everybody is transgender. That is all you hear about and that is why we won the election in record numbers” First off, President trump did not get even 50% of the vote, so it as hardly a landslide. Secondly, not everyone who did vote for him approved of his anti-transgender policies. Many voted for him on the hope that he would do something to bring prices down, but so far, he has none nothing about high prices. For projecting what he has been doing on a public which wanted something else, President Trump gets a TWIT. This story comes from Rolling Stone.
In yet another example of his anti-transgender crusade, President Trump signed an executive proclamation in honor of “Women’s History Month” which praised his efforts to exclude transgender women from women’s history. “No longer will our Government promote radical ideologies that replace women with men in spaces and opportunities designated for women, or devastate families by indoctrinating our sons and daughters to begin a war with their own bodies,” reads a portion of the executive proclamation. For hubris, President Trump and his staff get yet another TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.
A study by InterAct finds that several hospitals which paused gender-affirming medical care for minors after President Trump signed an executive order on the matter, have continued performing surgery on intersex individuals. For refusing to perform gender-affirming medical care which is shown to alleviate gender dysphoria, while not waiting for that dysphoria to appear before performing surgery on intersex people who are too young to give their consent, these hospitals get a TWIT. This story comes from The 19th*.
Moms For Liberty and the Heritage Foundation are promoting “Detrans Awareness Day,” a day in which detransitioners are on Capitol Hill and elsewhere to tell their stories. In reality, gender-affirming care has a lower regret rate than the vast majority of surgeries, but you won’t hear that from detransitioners. For defying statistics, and for pretending that the low regret rate is abnormally high, Moms For Liberty and the Heritage Foundation get a TWIT. LGBTQ Nation has this story.
As we also mentioned in the news, DOGE has cancelled a $600,000 grant to study safer menstruation products, because transgender men were mentioned once in the grant application. For taking the war on transgender people to an extreme, DOGE gets a TWIT. This story comes from CBS News.
