A teenager named Marquez D. Williams has been arrested in Sandusky, Ohio, and charged with persistent disorderly conduct, obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and theft. He is accused of pulling down the skirt of a transgender woman who was visiting Cedar Point amusement park. For feeling free to humiliate a person simply for being transgender, and for resisting the attempts of authorities to prevent and punish such behaviour, Marquez D. WIlliams gets a TWIT. A spokesperson for the park says that Mr. Williams has been given a lifetime ban from visiting any Six Flags park, according to an article in Them.
Bobby Charles, a candidate for Governor of Maine, has used the story of the great flood from Genesis to justify his anti-transgender views. He said, “Noah didn’t take 27 genders of animals. He took just two.” For using a story which cannot be literally true (animals did not come from Antarctica and Australia to travel on the arc, then go back to the places where they came from, among other logical absurdities), and stretching that story to attack vulnerable people, Bobby Charles gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
The Advocate reports that at least five conservative states have introduced some sort of legislation designating a conservative theme to the month of June, as a form of counterprogramming to Pride Month. These include “Nuclear Family Month” (proclaimed in Indiana) and “Fidelity Month” (declared in Tennessee), among others. For deliberately trying to diminish the impact of Pride by promoting a theme which is allegedly being overlooked to promote Pride, and for not realizing that doing so actually shows how strong the association of June with Pride has become, the politicians behind this movement get a TWIT.
