Kris Ripper, a transgender woman who lives in Kansas, had her driver’s license invalidated recently, and had to get a new one which had her “biological” gender but not her gender identity on it. After replacing her license, she was pulled over, and the police officer questioned her at length before letting her go. It seemed that she was let go with a warning, but later, she was informed that she had failed to appear for her arraignment. She had never received notice that she was due in court. For failing to notify her of her legal duties, and for appearing to wish to entrap transgender people in the legal system, the state of Kansas gets a TWIT. The Republican Party of Texas has released its platform, and it includes banning gender-affirming care for all up to the age of 26, as well as a ban on transgender people teaching in the schools. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has dropped a discrimination case brought by a transgender man. He was told that the order to drop the case came “from the top.” For enforcing their prejudices through the law, the Department of Justice under the Trump administration gets a TWIT. The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission says that it is not possible to be a “gay Christian” or a “trans Christian.” For directly challenging Jesus Christ’s teaching to “Judge not, lest ye be judged,” the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission gets a TWIT. A school district in Colorado says that they were scolded by the Trump administration for allowing a male student to perform as the school mascot at girls’ athletic events. The school also listed males who had acted as trainers and managers for the girls’ teams, according to the story in Them. For taking the policy to absurd levels, the Department of Education of the Trump administration gets a TWIT.
