As we mentioned int he news, the six conservative members of the Supreme Court decided that bans on gender-affirming medical care for minors do not violate the Constitution. More specifically, they do not violate the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The justices seem to hold that politicians can pass a law banning a medical practice despite the fact that the procedure is endorsed by the American Medical Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and other medical associations. For rushing to decide this case despite the fact that the U.S. Department of Justice, which was the nominal litigant, now does not oppose such bans, for reinterpreting the Fourteenth Amendment in such a way that civil rights of all sorts are no longer protected, for siding with politicians over major medical organizations on a matter of medicine, and for violating the principles of small government and parents rather than the government making medical decisions for their children, the six conservative members of the Supreme Court get a TWIT. Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a concurring opinion to US v. Skrmetti, in which he cited seven articles from the New York Times. (You can read about this at Them.) After that, the New York Times printed six more anti-transgender articles. For not learning to curb this bias, and for becoming the go-to source for anti-transgender misinformation, the New York Times gets a TWIT. This story comes from Erin Reed.???
Donald Trump Jr. commented on social media about the murder of Minnesota state Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband. He blamed the “radical transgender movement” for the murders. Police have arrested a suspect, who is certainly far-right, and no fan of transgender rights, so the only way that this statement would fit reality is if President Trump’s attacks on transgender rights have inspired his followers to violence against people who support civil rights. Of course, that is not the interpretation that Donald Trump Jr. intended. He wrote, “It’s like the radical transgender movement is per capita the most violent domestic terror threat, if not in America, probably the whole world.” For spreading lies about the cause of this horrible event, Donald Trump Jr. gets a TWIT.
