The Parliamentarian of the Senate has struck down several provisions of the reconciliation bill which President Trump refers to as “one big, beautiful bill.” Among those provisions struck down is an effort to stop federal spending on gender-affirming care through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, These provisions can be reintroduced in the Senate version of the bill, but they will need 60 votes, rather than 50, to pass.
