As we mentioned in the news, the Federal Trade Commission filed a lawsuit in Texas against the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. They are joined by the attorneys general for four conservative-leaning states, including Texas–states who legislators chose to listen to the same handful of anti-transgender doctors, who generally have not had transgender patients in their practices. These doctors have not conducted their own research, nor are they promoting recent studies by others. For prosecuting the messenger because the news is not what they want to hear, and for complaining about behaviour which bears too much of a resemblance to their own behaviour, the FTC and the state attorneys general involved in this case get a TWIT. Erin Reed compares their tactics to that of the Red Scare of the 1950s in a piece for Erin In The Morning.
The San Francisco Giants held Pride Night this week, and some players included Bible verses on their caps with the team logo in the colours of the rainbow flag. Laundon Roupp chose a verse from Genesis, in which God promised to remember His covenant whenever he saw the rainbow. The rainbow is a natural phenomenon, not something created by God, and it existed for centuries before the Bible was written. For choosing that verse to promote reading the Bible, Landon Roupp gets a TWIT, which he shares with teammates who chose similar verses from the Bible. This story comes from Them.
After a fight on the lawn of the White House, UFC fighter Josh Hokit said in an interview, “Michelle Obama is a man. Am I right?” First off, it is not an insult to be a transgender woman, when that is what you are. So, if indeed she were a transgender woman, then the statement would be no insult. Secondly, it is well-known that, while Michelle Obama is tall, she is certainly a cisgender woman with two daughters. For reviving a long-discredited rumour, and for pretending it is an insult on the former first lady when in fact it is a sign that the person repeating it is too stupid to realize it is an obvious lie, Josh Hokit gets a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story at Erin In The Morning.
A group of young Republicans is making jokes about a Democratic candidate for Congress from Florida. That much is not too unusual. However, the particular candidatre who is being mocked is said to look like transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Joan Rivers once said that comparing a cisgender woman to a transgender woman is a compliment, as transgender women are great at make-up and the such. For thinking that comparing the looks of a cisgender woman to a transgender woman is an insult, and for totally ignoring the policies of the candidate in order to attack her looks, those making the comparison get a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
