The Judiciary Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives has passed the “Protect Children’s Innocence Act,” Marjorie Taylor Greene’s bill to make gender-affirming care for transgender children illegal nationwide. The bill includes such loaded language as “chemical castration” and “genital mutilation” in reference to gender-affirming care. For outlawing a course of treatment which has been shown through peer-reviewed studies to provide better results than the “waitful watching” approach which the advocates of this bill insist on, and for approving such prejudicial language in the bill, the Republicans of the House Judiciary Committee get a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
The results of the largest survey of transgender people ever continue to come in. The latest finding to be released has to do with the reasons for discontinuing a gender change. Among those who began a gender change and detransitioned, only 4% detransitioned because they “realized that gender transition was not for them.” The most common reason for detransitioning was pressure from family, friends, or society. For creating the situation which causes failure, then attempting to cite that failure as a reason to force others to abandon the course of therapy, the people who pressure trans people into detransitioning get a TWIT. This story comes from Erin In The Morning.?
