As we mentioned in the news, a transgender man shot and killed his ex-wife and son, and severly wounded three other family members. This comes a week after a transgender teenager went on killing spree. As you might expect, this has led to some commentators calling transgender people a threat. Fox News host Lawrence Jones is one such; he says that transgender people should not be allowed to own guns, despite the Second Amendment having no exemptions and despite the fact that transgender people are far more likely than averaage to experience violence directed at them. (See the story via The Independent.) A story in the New York Post comes to the conclusion that transgender people are a threat, even though actual statistics show that transgender people are less likely to be mass shooters than are cisgender people. For not looking at facts correctly, and for rushing to smear all transgender people because of the actions of certain individuals, all who rushed to blame transgender people share a TWIT.

As we mentioned in the news, the bathroom bill passed by the Kansas legislature and the bathroom bill advancing in the Idaho legislature both cover who may use which restroom at a restroom in a private business. For violating the libertarian principle of not telling a private business how it can run such things as restrooms, the Republicans of Kansas and Idaho who voted (and continue to vote) for this legislation get a TWIT. The Advocate has a profile of May Mailman, who wrote at least two of President Trump’s executive orders on transgender rights, including the executive order which said that the U.S. government would only recognize two genders. For pushing a far-right agenda with no basis in science, and for promoting discrimination against a group of others, May Mailman gets a TWIT.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit, charging New York clothing company Lola Olivia with “false, misleading, or deceptive advertising” in its ads for binders for transgender males. In the suit, he claims that “even” the World Professional Association for Transgender Health mentions the health problems associated with the use of binders, when in fact, the WPATH guidance advises that transgender patients should only use binders which are specifically designed for the transgender and gender-diverse community. For misrepresenting the WPATH guidance, and for initiating a lawsuit which would remove safer alternatives from the market, causing transgender males to rely on unsafe alternatives, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them.

Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation and a creator of Project 2025, said on a recent podcast that the organization is “running the numbers” on how to break the alleged connection between gender-affirming surgeries and violence. His proposal is simple: “you outlaw it.” For talking so casually about using the power of government to intrude on the freedom of individuals, and for alleging a connection between gender-affirming care and violence, Kevin Roberts gets a TWIT. Erin Reed of Erin In The Morning has this story.
