A group called Let’s Go Washington announced that it has collected 400,000 signatures on its petitions, enough to get its proposed ban on transgender athletes, with genital inspections as a primary method of verification, on the ballot in the state of Washington. After reviewing the laws of the state, the board of Maine School Administrative District 60 voted for a policy which allows transgender students to use the restroom of the gender which matches their identity. The board also adopted a policy which discourages deliberately misgendering a student, classifying such behaviour as a form of harassment. Since then, according to Them, the board has had to increase police presence on school grounds. For making threats of violence and property destruction, parents who necessitated this police presence get a TWIT.
Texas A&M University refused a professor of philosophy’s course proposal in part because he wanted to teach on Plato, whose work “advocate[s] for” particular views on race, sex, or gender. For refusing to allow professors to teach one of the most foundational philosophers, Texas A&M University gets a TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.
During a speech to Congressionaal Republicans at the Trump-Kennedy Center on January 6, President Trump told Republicans that they must win or “I’ll be impeached.” He told them that President Biden should have been impeached “for a hundred reasons,” though President Trump did not specify any of those reasons. He said that Democrats “are mean and smart. But fortunately for you, they have horrible policy.” Among the “horrible policy” is “men in women’s sports” and “transgender for everybody.” Men are not allowed in women’s sports, but some states do permit transgender females in women’s sports. For again conflating transgender females as “men,” and for reiterating the meaningless phrase “transgender for everybody,” President Trump gets a TWIT. LGBTQ Nation has this story.
