Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has made a reputation for himself as one who opposes using gender-affirming medical care to treat gender dysphoria in transgender youths. This week, filed a lawsuit which, if successful, would allow Christian counselors to practice conversion therapy, which is currently against the law in some Missouri counties. Studies conducted using respected scientific methods show that conversion therapy does not turn gay people straight, nor does it turn transgender people into cisgender people. Conversion therapy merely makes LGBTQ people ashamed of themselves. For fighting against the medical treatment which has the best results, while fighting for a treatment which makes patients ashamed of themselves, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey gets a TWIT. The Advocate reports that the Trump administration is going after five school districts in northern Virginia for their policies regarding transgender students. America First Legal, a group led by Stephen Miller, President Trump’s Deputy Chief of Staff, complains that these districts “erases the very concept of biological sex” with policies that force teachers to use the name and pronoun which a student requests. According to America First Legal, this gives transgender students “greater rights” than cisgender students have. For misuse of language in the use of the term “biological sex” when in fact it aligns with a very low level of biology and ignores much science, and for trying to push an agenda which denies what science shows is true, America First Legal and the Department of Education get a TWIT.

A judge recently ruled that the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Food And Drug Administration must restore web pages dealing with transgender health and certain other issues. The federal agencies did restore the web pages, but added a header, warning that, “Any information on this page promoting gender ideology is extremely inaccurate and disconnected from the immutable biological reality that there are two sexes, male and female. The Trump Administration rejects gender ideology and condemns the harm it causes to children, by promoting their chemical and surgical mutilation.” For soiling the medical information with their misinformed opinion, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. As we mentioned in the news, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is dropping its support for various cases in which transgender employees are suing over discrimination in employment. This comes despite the Supreme Court finding that discrimination against transgender employees because of our gender identity is, at core, “discrimination on the basis of sex.” For substituting their own, very biased, opinion for the ruling of the Supreme Court, the Trump administration gets another TWIT.
