Judge Anna C. Reyes of the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., said that transgender people in the military do not pose a threat to discipline or to military readiness. She was quite insistent on the point, calling the defense of the order “ridiculous.” NBC News has this story.

Judge Lauren King of the Western District of the state of Washington has issued a second temporary restraining order on President Trump’s ban on gender-affirming medical care for all people in the U.S. under the age of 19. This is the second order from a judge blocking the ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors. She described the order as, “an official statement of bigotry from the president that directs agencies to openly discriminate against vulnerable youth on the basis of their transgender status and sex.” This story comes from The Advocate.

Although the Supreme Court has said that refusing to hire or retain a transgender person is a form of discrimination on the basis of sex, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has withdrawn from multiple cases in which the Biden administration had sided with transgender employees. Last week, we mentioned that Kansas Governor Laura Kelly had vetoed an even more stringent ban on gender-affirming care for minors. This week, we must report that the Kansas state legislature voted to overturn the governor’s veto. The Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) has removed all references to transgender people from its web site. According to LGBTQ Nation, they were afraid that the Trump administration would remove their federal funding if they did not make the changes to their web pages.
