Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for Governor of Ohio, has said that she does not agree with the idea of “boys playing in girls’ sports.” This week, as Equality Ohio changed its grade of her candidacy from “A” to “pending,” This week, Dr. Acton’s staff arranged a meeting with leaders from at least 40 LGBTQ groups, to try to smoothe things over. Some of the invited leaders were unable to connect to the meeting (held via Zoom), while others were removed in the middle of the call. The candidate herself was a no-show, although her staff did meet with the activists. One attendee said, “The meeting did more to inflame tensions and create further divides between the LGBTQ_ community and the Acton campaign.” For holding a meeting to smooth tensions which only served to heighten tensions, the Acton campaign gets a TWIT. The Buckeye Flame has this story.

Erin Pare, a lawmaker from Wake County in North Carolina, has proposed legislation to regulate what a transgender teacher may wear in the classroom. She talks of “gender-appropriate” clothing, but does not mean appropriate to the teacher’s gender identity. For thinking that, as a politician, she knows someone’s gender identity better than the person whose life is being examined, state Representative Erin Pare gets a TWIT. This story comes from The Advocate.

Five states are seeing efforts to get anti-transgender ballot initiatives before the voters in the upcoming midterm elections. For promoting anti-rights measures, the activists behind these ballot proposals get a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story at Erin In The Morning.

Eric Conn, the pastor of a far-right church in Utah, has said that women’s basketball causes “transgenderism.” For confusing co-existance with causation, Eric Conn gets a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.

As we mentioned in the news, the Department of Education is looking into allegations that schools in Minnesota are using dolls to teach “4-year-olds” about transgender people. According to The Advocate, the dolls mentioned are not the dolls uesd in classrooms. For creating a political talking point with the wrong items, the Department of Education get a TWIT.
