Hello everyone, I’m new here. I have made the discovery recently and am looking for support and help. I enjoy reading the posts on this forum and am starting to learn what is ahead. I am excited and scared of things to come. Looking forward to talking things through with both you here and a gender therapist.

Jan 7, 2024 at 11:12 am #69460llloyd4ParticipantHi! I * hope * this is the right place. If not then many apologies. >.< I have a newbie question. I’ve been in the closet for decades now, but I am slowly pondering, planning, etc on coming out. But I am, umm, ‘big boned’ , let’s say. My male pant size is 46-48, trending more on the 48 side. I’ve Googled charts to convert my size to women’s sizes and, well, none of them go up that far. >.< Umm…The rest should be pretty straight forward I think. Just need to dig out a soft tape measure and follow the measuring guide for the brassier, blouse size might be problematic too… I wear 2x, well, that’s the weird part. I have a bunch of 2x t shirts in the closet but the last several I bought recently had to be returned and 3x purchased instead, so I got a mix of 2x (old) and 3x (new) t shirts, that’s male sizing. No idea what that translates into women’s sizing. O.o But there should be a shoe size translation that goes up to 12, I think. >.< Umm… Can’t think of anything else. Well, I mean, there is a 1000 things or more but … That’s it I can think of pertaining to clothing.

You might check the sizing charts found on the clothing websites. Torrid and Lane Bryant both carry plus sizes. Good idea to use the tape measure and measure your chest, waist and hips. Your waist may be larger than your hips so measure at the fullest part. It’s best to try an item on in the store for fit.
For womens shoes try a size or two larger than your mens size. Is you’re an 11 try size 13. Your feet may need a wider shoe which Torrid Carrie’s.
Bras can be tricky. Measure your torso under your bust then around your bust. Substructure the two for your cup size. Let’s say the under bust is 46 inches around. That would be your band size. If your bust is 48 then the difference is 2 inches or a B cup. If you use breast forms measure wearing a bra with the forms. Your breasts may be set wider apart than a GG so try the bra on for fit.

New to this journey, just started consulting doctors this week. Looking for some insights to what the future holds and hoping to make some friends along the way.
Thanks,
