Hi All! Its time once again for Trans Media Arts. Let’s dive right in.

SF Dyke March

Well it’s Pride time here in San Francisco. Lots of goings on and lots of entertainment. The event is both local and national news. The celebration is one huge entertainment event but with an importance that cannot be forgotten in all of the rainbow wigs, leather chaps, and naked breasts. Trans March, an important event, and probably the largest transgender and ally march in the world at 10,000 plus people, was on Friday. Saturday was for the ladies so to speak, Dyke March as well as the ceremonial installation of the Pink Triangle on the hillside. Sunday is the big daddy. The main SF Pride March. Dykes on Bikes makes an annual appearance as well as a slew of companies including Apple, which seems to send everyone they have from their “spaceship.” Colorful characters, floats and all sorts of LGBTQ celebrations will be in full swing. There are a slew of entertainment events in the city that people can go to to keep the celebration going.

Janet Mock

Morgan Freeman is in hot water over unearthed interviews from a few years ago. In them he comments on the interviewer’s legs and body. One such interview was with our own Janet Mock. Mock recounted the interview and said it was unusable because the entire time, Freeman was looking at her legs. In Mock’s account, Mock recalled that Freeman remarked on the length of her dress and didn’t care that the cameras were running. “It shows how men in power just believe that they have free range to do whatever they want.” The interview was done in 2015 but is just now coming to light in the wake of many other sexual harassment charges in the entertainment industry such as Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein and Jeffery Tambor of Transparent.

A Virginia Beach couple is being featured on TLC in a show about transgender spouses called Lost in Transition. Lawren Burroughs, who has been married to Jennifer for 24 years, is one of four transgender husbands seen transitioning on the TLC series. The hourlong show airs Sundays at 10 p.m. While two of the four wives in the series are resistant to taking part in their husbands’ coming-out experience, Lawren’s wife has adjusted to the process, even praising Lawren’s looks when she dresses as a woman. “I’m pretty darn tall and have no idea what my style is.” Lauren says. After Lawren chooses a nice simple black dress, Jennifer is pleased by her husband’s choice. Later in the episode, Lawren gets a new “do.”

Hunter walks for Versace.

Cynthia Nixon, of Sex and the City fame, announced that she has a transgender child. Seph, is a trans man. Seph graduated college this month and has a proud mom. Cynthia and her son posed for an Instagram photo at his University of Chicago graduation.

Hunter Schafer, 19, is a trans activist turned runway model. She hails from Raleigh, NC, a known LGBT haven. She has appeared on Teen Vogue and modeled for Versace and Helmut Lang. She started transitioning in high school. Shafer first made headlines when she became a plaintiff in the ACLU action against the infamous NC HB2. During the recent fashion weeks, she walked in 9 shows.

The band Chromeo, a Canadian funk synth duo, adopted a stylized image of toned women’s legs sporting high heels as their logo. The band did this several years ago and meant it as “a throwback to Helmut Newton-style fashion photography that toed the line between art and eroticism.” As Chromeo became more well known they began to get negative comments about the legs logo from people who felt it was objectifying women. In response the band decided that it was only right and proper for them to shave their own legs and don high heels. So that’s what they did for their newest album, Head Over Heels. Here is the album cover featuring their sexy lower extremities.

That’s all for now folks!
