TG Coming Out Proudly in Daily Life
We really need to be realistic about who we appear to be in public. Maybe 10% of the male to female T-Girls pass totally, in looks, voice, or mannerisms. Those that do have the ability to choose to be completely stealth in their neighborhood and workplace and nobody knows. The other 90% of us still can be “outed” fairly easily in public. Myself I can take some pretty pictures, with the right light and from the right angle I can look very passable, but not all of the time, and not without a lot more makeup than I like to wear. Many consider expensive surgeries to help them conform to their inner vision of themselves that may work or may not get you that bikini ready body or passable femme face, let alone being movie star gorgeous.
So where does that leave us? For me and those I advise, I promote finding a balanced MtF look for your everyday, and coming out proud to be TG. Working into being more femme first with a little makeup, some eyeliner, getting that second earring, your own hair — if possible. Colored well and not too wild (unless wild is your thing), clear nail polish at first then moving into colors. We don’t all look like magazine models or princesses, so why do I see so many trying to emulate that and only going out to T-friendly clubs or environments with other T-Girls, or staying in their back rooms or in their closets snapping pics.
We owe a debt of gratitude to the Goth crowd with their nail polish, piercings, and dark eye makeup. They say go ahead try and fuck with me, or laugh at me, I can look like this because I want to and don’t give a shit what you or anybody thinks. What this does for us is we can easily get under that bar toward “normal and acceptable” and don’t need attitude to do it, just confidence. A lot of T-Girls have proven this already. Of course in some situations the corporate norm rules and one may lose their job, or standing in the community where on lives. I believe for the vast majority we just don’t want to look strange, out of place, or ripe for ridicule, abuse, or even grievous harm. Maybe I am just way too vain but I would rather look like an attractive TG than an ugly girl. When I work with people I always say, “I don’t care what you look like now, everyone can be attractive.” You have to work at it to get it down right, with the correct attitude and confidence as well as everything to do with hair, makeup, attire, mostly all understated. The less is more expression always being the rule. If you are having a problem believing this can work for you, talk to me or someone else who is accomplished at making over peoples appearances and lives.
Ever see the movie The Mirror has 2 Faces with Babs Streisand? There’s a life makeover if I ever saw one. Living a life in fear and or shame is not healthy. Do whatever you can to slowly educate your family, friends, and community about transgender issues and lifestyle, bringing about a new age in thought. Future generations will thank our efforts, whereby they will see being transgendered, gender fluid, transsexual or androgynous as being even more acceptable than what we today call the norm of being cisgendered.
Next month I will post an article on Coming Out at Work, to Family, Friends and Neighbors, but I wanted to let you know this is some of the of work we do from our Retreat Center here in Costa Rica, helping the TG community so contact us anytime. Those that come to visit us here can right from their arrival here in their chosen Gender Expression even in public. We change lives immediately, supporting you to see it is possible to do this now. We also teach from the standpoint that if you are TG you are Two Spirit Nature as well, bringing in the spiritual relevance of why you were born as you are, when we know your life would have been much less complicated were you only single gendered at birth.
In the future we will have events and conferences at our Retreat supporting all LGBT efforts centered round a list of guest speakers.
My motto “We are TG, Get Used to it World, We’re here to stay!”
Bonne Chance
