It’s that time again. Down at Dina’s Diner they’ve just introduced the July menu items. Among the tasty treats you’ll find a potpourri of flavors including photographer Lissa Rivera and her androgynous muse BJ Lillis. Rumination on the death of fashion as flip flops, cutoffs and faded t-shirts become the norm. The 1969 Japanese film titled “Funeral Parade of Roses.” And Dina tops it off with a dessert Guide to Shaming inspired by the trend of shaming women for wearing thong swimsuits. Could that just be jealousy? Take a seat and get ready for another experience down at Dina’s Diner.

While Governor Chris Christie is in a stand off with the New Jersey Legislature over the state’s budget all of the state parks and recreational facilities are closed. Except the governor has access to a residence which is located in a state park very near the beach. While as a lame duck Christie enjoys a 15% approval rating and can’t run for reelection our political correspondent Babs Casbar Siperstein is hoping that he will feel beneficent after his vacation at the shore and will sign several bills into law that benefit trans people in the state. In a special report Babs tells you what those bills are and how they would be good for trans people.

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund Freedom Awards

On June 8 The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund held their 2017 Freedom Awards in New York City. Awards were presented to people and organizations who made a contribution to TLDEF’s mission. Angela Gardner traveled to the Big Apple to report on the event. Here is her report and several photos from the event.

A trans woman is approved to file a lawsuit under the Americans With Disabilities Act. A contestant on The Bachelorette is in hot water for a transphobic remark. Masculine Chinese girls have formed a “boy” band. Changes may be in store to update Britain’s Gender Recognition Act. A school in London will allow boys to wear skirts. If they have the legs for it, why not? Chelsea Manning is a free woman and we finally have an updated photo of her. Many are wondering if the deadline for including trans troops in the military will be honored. There are changes to laws concerning gender in several place. A feminist journal gets in trouble equating transgender people with trans racial people. Men in Wyoming are wearing tutus at the bar. There’s an app that can change your gender. As the nation faces roll backs of trans rights protections Babs has filed a report on what is being done in New Jersey to protect trans rights. Several bill passed in the legislature recently but Governor Christie is unlikely to sign them. Trans people in the state are organizing and stepping up to demand that their rights be protected. Dina Amberle welcomes everyone down at Dina’s Diner and this week she has some new specials on the menu. First up there’s a tasty discussion of genderless danshi, and that’s not sushi. Then she mixes in some pageant gowns, adds a spicy bit of news about a dress that Rose McGowen wore, and adds in a taste of Kodo Nishimura the drag queen monk. After all of that she hopes you have room for a dessert comprised of the sweet and saucy Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. So stop in, have a seat, order a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy your time in Dina’s Diner.
