Plus and Minus

It’s been an incredible week.

Let’s start with this: United States Attorney General Loretta Lynch, in announcing a suit against the state of North Carolina and the University of North Carolina for civil rights abuses, said the following:

“Let me also speak directly to the transgender community itself. Some of you have lived freely for decades. Others of you are still wondering how you can possibly live the lives you were born to lead. But no matter how isolated or scared you may feel today, the Department of Justice and the entire Obama Administration wants you to know that we see you; we stand with you; and we will do everything we can to protect you going forward.”

Right now, Republicans’ heads are exploding.

Because a Republican would NEVER EVER do this. Ever. Please someone explain to me how ANY transgender person can support the GOP. Oh wait, we already went over that several times.

Right. So Professor Jennifer Finney Boylan went on Hardball with a representative of the Family Research Council (a recognized Hate Group and architect of the GOP hate bills nationwide), Travis Weber. The host, Chris Matthews asked the hatemonger point blank “Should Jenny go to the men’s room or the ladies’ room?” and he stuttered and stammered and obfuscated. In other words, he wouldn’t declare his hate to her face.

He is a COWARD. As are they all.

Oh, they’ll rile up all the bullies to beat and murder us, but how many CISGENDER women who don’t look “feminine” enough will also be victims?

HE won’t have to do the dirty work, him and his white, rich cohorts in the FRC. No, they’ll just make violent people fear and hate transgender people so THEY will do the violence.

And we suffer.

So. While the AG of the U.S. was making this historic speech, where was I? Well, I was at a Rite Aid in my home town, the one I’d been using for twelve and a half years, to pick up a prescription. I transitioned two and a half years ago, and have been in there, as Sophie, many many times. But this time, something was different.

They have a new pharmacy manager. And she not only dead named me, even after I corrected her, she misgendered me — shouting my dead name and former gender across the entire BUSY pharmacy.  (More details HERE)

Sophie

The Pharmacist said THIS looks male

I was humiliated. And ANGRY.

My friends, this fight for our rights is not over. It may never be over. I am fighting with Rite Aid now, filing HIPPA complaints, etc.

Am I fired up about all this? Absolutely! And the funny thing is, I had grown tired of fighting. I was weary from the constant barrage of hate from the right wing. I was wishing I could go stealth.

Then that . . . person in Rite Aid pissed me off. And now, I will fight back. It’s a local issue, but it’s MY local issue. And, as Tip O’Neal once said “All politics is local.” Will I win? Maybe. Maybe not. But I WILL fight. I will fight against the Hate generated by the GOP and their masters.

If not for me, then for my Daughter, who will have to live in the world I leave behind. I have no illusions — those who hate TGs will harass those related to us as well. And no one messes with my daughter.

Be well. And know, that at least until January, the federal government is on our side. And if you think Trump will be, you’re flat out crazy and I’m saying so.

Be well.

Please hang in Sophie. That is how those people work, they do it in hopes to wear you out and you will go away or back in the closet.
Look at the problems Target is having, but, upper management is staying committed to the transgender community! I shop there all the time now.
